Title: New hose reel
Post by: stu_thomson on September 27, 2016, 10:41:43 pm
Need to get myself a new reel and hose
Have had standard hose reel for a few years but it keeps falling apart in middle now
I run hot water and use 8 mm minibore
Hose at moment does stretch a lot with the warm water so is there a hose more designed for hot?
Reel needs to be screwed down to floor

Suggestions?

With hose I can't help you as I still have old version from gardiners.

I don't use hot but got sick of flimsy reels just recently when my year old Claber  imploded at the spindle and buckled - my own fault, I had fitted a 100 m of new reinforced pole hose without reeling it on under pressure, tightly wound once in use with water pumped through it, it expanded !
Treated myself to a Proloc from Varitech £140 inc vat and delivery through their Ebay store. Its the dogs whatnots !  came supplied with two threaded brass barbed hose tails one for 1/2" hose on the inlet and the other micobore ( 6 mm ) for the reel hose although with a bit of force and heat did manage to get the 5 mm Gardiner reinforced pole hose on it, easy to bolt down in a van mount too.  ;)

What I also like about this reel is it is quite narrow but deep sides, seems to help with reeling hose in and keeping it neat for the next time its reeled out plus there is a lever you can screw in to lock the spindle while in transit.

Gardiners do a coxreel the blue one on there site is the one I use,I put 60 degrees through it everyday for about 4 years barring a month and it's never leaked, brilliant reel IMO reels in effortlessly 1 spin gives 4-5 rotations about £350 well worth every penny
