I run Nottingham window cleaning, i own the domain name and website for nottinghamwindowcleaning.com (which googles very well!) i have 70000 per annum worth of good work(domestic and commercial)in the Nottingham area which increases daily with a massive scope for taking my business to a much higher yield.
I am at a crossroad now of whether to buy more vans and expand or to sell up and try something different!
What price does anyone think i could ask for this as is with van ,website, phone numbers and probably 5 grands worth of equipment, plus all my customers !!
Just looking at my options.
Thanks David

Surely if your business is as big as your saying, you should have some ideas yourself of the business worth. I would do if i was you.
-
Wow that's good going £70,000 - did you switch to wfp in 2012 or did you start window cleaning then?
-
I was working for Andrews window cleaning (best mate) also googles very well! then went on my own in 2012 as nobody had Nottingham Window Cleaning!
-
Yes of course i have a rough idea of what i want! Just thought you experts on here could give me some input!!
-
Does Nottingham qualify as the north? ;D
-
It's most definitely in the south with those earnings

Just lol

Depends on a lot of things really , Nottingham is a big place , how many miles does your round cover? how many people do you have to employ to achieve those earnings?
Average price?
Is it monthly/ 8 weekly etc ?

Leave me out of this!

;D
-
Did you get your customers by door-knocking or leafleting?
-
Cheers for the reply,
Most my work is on a 4 weekly basis , i do most of it on my own with a lad working with me twice a week. Majority is within a five mile radius of wollaton nottingham(where i live) ,but individual days are now quite compact due to a few years of tweaking the round! I also have regular gutter empties ,fascia soffit cleans ,con cleans etc which i fit in on Saturdays if not possible in the week!
-
Started by leafleting, door knocking, but now most work comes from the internet, word of mouth and picking customers up on the street you are working on !!

In 2013 you said you were thinking of putting "your lad" in a separate van. Did you?

Thanks. Nice one. You've obviously got motivation, a keen sense of ambition and a desire to succeed. Fair play.

I've just gone through this post in a little more detail.
Hats off to you. 70K a year pretty much as a sole trader. I take my hat of to you in that this disproves those idiots who come on here bad mouthing the abilities of window cleaners in the north of the country.
In 4 years! Fair play.
70K a year is about £5.5K - £6K a month, so I guess a well established up and running business offering a full time wage from the 'get-go' might attract £35K - £40K plus second hand value of vehicle, established website etc. I'd expect be to looking at £50K as package perhaps.
-
You know what mate ,thanks for taking your time to have a look!
Wasn't far off that figure myself.thought maybe i could get a years turnover if i am lucky!
Be a good business for someone, who wants to work hard for a decent income.
Apart from yourself, quite surprised at other peoples comments!
Thought we were all on the same page!!
Cheers again
-
70k in 4 years. I wouldn't have thought possible starting from 0. Unless you bought a round. you must have picked a good area

You're welcome. You get a few knuckle draggers in all walks of life mate.
Makes it all the more pleasant when you come across someone with motivation and you get to sort the wheat from the chaff.
-
Maybe there's plenty of work in Nottingham because the miners there never went on strike.

Not sure there mate, I got to 3.5k in my first two years from 0. I found it started to snowball from 2.5k onwards, especially if you have a good online presence. I'd be surprised if he wasn't at 5.5k by year 3! You'll be surprised what consistent daily organised effort can achieve!

Have you held yourself back or have others told you your not doing as well a you should be ? we all live in our own little worlds and should make judgements on what we see going on in them, not what happening in somebody else's little world.

Sorry, maybe I should have quoted it.
Much like "my glass is half empty" that you seem to portray.
I'm not judging the O/P if he says he's done it that's ok with me

Mate I challenge show offs and arrogant sods who think they're better than everybody else, what's half empty about that ?
I wasn't judging the op I haven't mentioned him just replying to your post of holding yourself back which funny enough sounds
very glass half empty.
-
Assuming it's arrogance and they're showing off is glass half empty in itself.
When I first came on to CIU I used to see quite a few posts of that nature whereby peeps would post what they'd managed to achieve in their working lives, I admired that.
It also made me wonder how do you go about getting work like that. I never for one minute thought they were being arrogant. It encouraged me. You've got the cart before the horse Sean. If you want to think of me as arrogant or whatever I'm fine with that, I doubt everyone does, in which case keep challenging, it says more about you than me.
As for where you live, it is Northern Ireland isn't it?

You're a boring braggart that likes nothing more than to exploit any opportunity to keep showing photos of your Two big houses and your Transit van! You jump on any thread which allows you to make silly, blase comments and belittle others in the process. Like someone else commented a week or two ago- you come across as a bit of a ****!
It's boring and tedious, we've seen you all on here over the years, give it a rest child! You're a shiner who's got a few decent jobs, end of you clown! ::)roll
-
lol now you are coming across as a funny guy.

Mate I don't consider somebody coming on here explaining how they built their business or even how they achieved top dollar prices as arrogant, that's said there's a fine line in being helpful and just plain blowing your own horn/showing off.
Now when they start harping on about being able to do it anywhere and dismiss the experiences of others working in those
areas as nonsense then I call that arrogance.
Wont be saying where I live as its too easy to rub some people up the wrong way and the last thing you need are enemies in the workplace.
-
But you don't work in the North of England Sean.
No one said they could replicate what they'd achieved anywhere in the country. Personally I said this is what I did, try it yourself if you can't build a round. Because it worked for me. That's not arrogance in my eyes but it is in yours. To me that's passing on experience.

It would be hard to avoid making enemies wherever you go I'd think. ;D

Seriously if that's all that was said then I don't think it would have went further as its good advice through and through,
but who said what and why will only have us going round in circles, I suppose it shows one thing, we are all passionate about
what we have achieved big or small and are quick to defend it.

I'm not; it's rubbish and you can have it if you want.
But I've never- and never will- crossed a picket line or robbed from the rich and gave it to the poor.

Difference is that we don't attack others.
-
How many regular window cleaning customers do you have and what's your average price?
If I was going to sell my business I would set the price at x 1.5 of the yearly turnover and negotiate from there...

You were being an arrogant **** as per usual Matt so stop back tracking. You were quoting rightmove stats in Northern areas, then when you were challenged you started posting pictures of your Two big houses! you were giving it large like the clown you are mate! ::)roll ;D ;D ;D
-
I might have my maths all wrong, but if you have £70,000 per year but lets say that would break down easily to 12 months of £5000.00 ( I know it's more but allow for not 4 weekly jobs) that's 12 lots of rounds that should easily sell for £10,000 to £12,000 per lot. That could bring you in up to £140,000.00 for the work only.
I think the problem trying to sell as one lot is finding somebody to pay a substantial amount of money in one lot.

And you're the biggest liar. You lied about where you work and about supposed huge competition when by your own admission it's you or nobody.

Whilst I may agree with some of your sentiment if you don't tone it down, you're getting the boot.
And whilst you may change your e-mail address and IP number and sign back up, I'll then give you the boot again, and we'll play the 'sign-up and delete' game, and you will lose.
I shall be keeping one of my Jap's eyes on your posts, and having three of them, there's no shortage.
Please tone down the vitriol in your posts.

Come on guys , I don't think Nottingham window cleaner needed to hear all this , how about a bit of advice for the poor chap now 🙏

If I had seen these latest posts before Tosh you would have had an immediate ban. Now you have more eyes than a potato watching your posts.
