So i've had my WFP system Van mount for 5 weeks now. Last week after 4 weeks of use, the Rectus 21 Female connectors on the hose reel basically are just not connecting properly, male ones arent much better, they are all scuffed and damaged. They are just about working, but can take ages to get in, literally minutes sometimes. Got replacements delivered today but its like £18 for a full Rectus 21 male and female set... Don't want to be changing this regularly if i can help it.
So Pure Freedom sell protector discs for the female of the rectus 21 for the hose reel connector side. Gardiners sell the protector balls for the pole hose which i have the rectus 21 male connector. So has anybody used any of this, do they actually work or does anybody have any tips for helping with this so it doesn't become a regular problem. Also need a way to figure on using this alongside the 4 way roller guide i have.
Cheers guys.

change to rectus 26 fittings miles better and harder wearing http://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/all-products/pump-hose/hose-fittings-adapters/professional-hose-couplings/pro-026-couplings.html .

Tubeless sorts the problem...

The protector balls are good for stopping them getting dragged along the ground.
I get them from here (you will need to drill a hole in them) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Masters-Golf-Foam-Practise-Balls-Multi-Coloured-x-6-/390774336193?hash=item5afbf72ac1:g:qDsAAOSwQYZWxftT
And the Rectus 21's I get from here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152224811336?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I had very same problem from pure freedom equipment within weeks of using it. Its extremely annoying but it took me on a steep learning curve and i came out better by the end of it.
I still use rectus 21 but i swapped them around. I took off the useless heavy protector disc. Originally PF had femal quick release on pole hose and male connection on main hose. Ive now changed them, so the female rectus is on the main hose and the lighter male connected on my pole hose.
For added ease, as seen on my previoud/early posts, my main hose has a valve tap plus female rectus. I clip this into a leather holster on a belt, so tap is by my side, then clip pole hose in an away you go. No more dragging on floor, no more trip hazard and full control in your hands.

Nathan...PF now have male on pole hose female on main hose...or at least mine does.
Water should run from male to female.

Those little protector balls are a waste off money dont bother ,they dont stop in place always up and down the pipe .if you stop draging the connector across the floor it will last a lot longer than five weeks

I also do the same and agree

i use rectus 26.more robust and hardwearing although they do still pop off occasionally when in use(annoying)but last a lot longer than the 21s IME. ;)

This is a pretty easy problem to solve. My Rectus 21 fittings are lasting years, not months or weeks. The clue is in what you say.
A male connector can only get damaged, scuffed etc if it is not plugged in and is dragged along the floor. Some people here advocate getting a rectus 26 as its bigger and stronger ? My advice is pick it up and don't drag it along the floor, then it can't get damaged.
The rectus 21 females.......in most cases they cannot pull back cleanly or connect cleanly because the male they are connecting to is damaged. So trying to connect to a new / good condition male should not be a problem. The damaged females i have seen have been worn collars because they have been dragged across the floor, then couple that (pardon the pun) with a worn male and its easy to see why you have problems.
The solution is simple...............pick them up when you can, which should be all the time. Or cover the whole union in gaffer tape weekly. And BTW, just why is it your unplugging them ? Mine don't get disconnected unless i'm changing poles ? And its impossible for a male connection that is plugged in to get damaged ?

Still a waste of money
50p really?

maybe?

We had the same problems when we started. As Clean Clear suggests though, just get into the habit of picking the un-coupled female fitting back to the hose reel before you start winding up and lift it off the ground just as the last 2 metres wind in. As he says, they can then last for years.

Don't disconnect the pole hose unless absolutely necessary
I disconnect mine about 3 times a day
Saves wear

Still a waste of money ;D
-
I use a tennis ball to protect it. lasts a lot longer with it
-
Some you'll get are just badly made regardless of make ie jap imports or the genuine German rectus fittings,I've tried the 26s and IMO they are to heavy and just as unreliable,I've had some 21s last a week and some last 6-8 months. Try leaving them connected to your reel as much as possible is reeling pole hose on the reel with the microbore.
-
I find taking more days off a week and having lots of five star holidays throughout the year helps make all my kit last longer. Got to think outside the box.

i would seriously start taking your own advise Dave.

Will try the Rectus 21 fittings as i have bought a ton of them now, will try not to drag them at all now, might even get a holster like nath said, does my head in having to keep picking it up all the time.
Worst case i will get the Rectus 26 further down the line if they are better, and il stop disconnecting the pole hose from main hose as much as i have been doing.
Cheers for advice all!

Iv put a connector protector at the end of pole hose AND hose reel hose
