I don't wish to be insensitive, but do you guys have a strategy  not to be owed money if a customer pops their clogs  ???

Not really, but when this has happened the relatives usually pay up, sometimes continue the service until the home is sold

Yeah, I guess it's just common sense. If they're frail and pale, I tend to give them a buzz the night before. Sometimes they can have a nap in the chair when I turn up, here I just start on the lounge and make a bit of noise, which usually works. Dreading the day when I have to kick the door in though.  ::)roll

I normally just leave a bill. Seems extreme to kick the door in to get paid.

Same as above comments.

In line with abovr thread. I had a customer who sadly died just days before reaching 101, sweet old lass. She just used to sit in her rocking chair by the window, thankfully her son lived just opposite side of road. But i used to wait to see signs of her breathing before i cleaned the windows, dreaded time of doing her windows every month (she was a regular customer for 14yrs). Even when i saw signs of her breathing i used to tap on windows gently  so she wouldnt wake suddenly and have an heart attack.

Let it go. They pay every month in cash usually anyway. It the ones that get a 1 clean, pay, 2nd clean, no pay no reply that gets my backup. Going to do some rides on my bike with a box of eggs

Usually the customers family pay up.

If all else fails i put a slither of bamboo in the lock which usually costs them more than my bill.

No one dodges my payment that easily. Flippin daisy pushers.

i was kicking the door in on discovering a stiffy! I'm quite sure there'll always be something in the shed to cover the bill...

Forget being brown bread!
I give the ole bids 20 seconds from banging on the door when i'm done  - to cash in my pocket.
More than 20 secs and they're dumped and replaced with two half the age  ;D

I usually just tell the next of kin pay up or you'll be going the same way! :P

There was one guy on here (don't know if he was winding us up or not) who used to get paid cash regular every month.
When he went to collect, the relative informed him the customer was no longer with us.
When asked how much he was owed - he said 3 months!

The palace cleaner was sacked soon after for leaking a story to the press that it was always thought that the corgis had been soiling the soft furnishings, but it soon became obvious who the real culprit was.

If you think they are about to pop their clogs, knock first before cleaning - no answer - skip until next time round, we've got a few of these.
The old custies are the best though.
Prefer them any day to new build messers.
