hi all
My yanmar is dead . It has electric start but absolutely nothing . Battery is charged I have taken switch of and tried touching wires together nothing . There is an inline fuse but replaced that.
If it was starter motor it would try or click I would have thought. Solenoid maybe?
Next step is to use the pull start but 11hp diesel from cold is a nightmare to start.

Post a picture of the back of the starter motor.

Don't they have a compression take off lever on them John?

No cancel that I'm talking about something else

Hi
Yes it doesBut it's not trying and failing to start it's just dead, like silent.
pretty sure it's electrical , traced all the wiring it looks like it's connected where it should be.

Try the battery on something else

Or try a different battery

broken earth lead - jump leads from battery to starter

Check the 20amp glass fuse.
