Title: Knackered!
Post by: sunshine windows on August 31, 2016, 12:57:52 pm
3/4 of the way through the biggest gutter job I've ever done. 8 hours solid clearing yesterday and washing it all over today.

Good money but I can't wait for it to be over!

We once had a gutter clearing job that took 4 weeks, well paid but were glad when it was over like you!!

Well I did warn you it's not easy lance. Just think what it would have been like if we had won that M.O.D contract. Now can you see why I priced it up at 29 K just for part of the works they wanted completed as would have taken it's toll big time on yer body day after day waving a 45-50 ft gutter vac pole about  ;D ;D

The really funny bit on that site visit was you asked the chap if they also wanted the plastics cleaned as well which did make me chuckle as if the job wasn't bad enough.

I get knackered just thinking about work now let alone doing any  :D

That sounds a big old job Smurf, we once priced a job up at £20000, that was MOD related too.

All I can say is, I'm glad you never won the contract. This was all lower level but lots of it. I'll post a video link through Facebook

Bloody hell Nick. If I did 4 weeks similar to what I've been through I'd be in worse shape than smurf 😂

AND this was with aluminium poles, mind you at the time there wasn't carbon poles and we didn't think anything of it.

Nice job!! It always surprises me the different types of jobs in gutter cleaning. You get jobs like the 4 week one we did then you get days when you just have several houses to do, it's nice to have the variation.

Approx 300 m in 8 hours of low level gutter clearing was still good going Lance.

Regards to doing the outsides afterwards my prefered weapon of choice would have been to use a pressure washer instead of wfp as you know me I like to do things the easy way.

Good luck with the higher bits next week as I think yer going to need it as a lot of it looks rambed packed with weeds.

Is the hotel in Swindon. Do Trim High Rise Maintenance still do much high level cleaning in central Swindon?

Hi Simon,

I've no idea, as I've never heard of them. They have a regular window cleaning firm, but no idea why they wouldn't do the gutters.

In hindsight I think I've priced that section way too cheap! 😱

I paced the rest out at approx 260m worth. Even at my standard rate it worked out a nice wedge for 2 days work.

Time for a pint or two now as you deserve it after that lot. Then best take a day or two rest to get over it is what doc smurf has prescribed  ;)

Yes, Lee's got quite a large commercial business now after moving away from most residential work. I speak to his fellas every now and then when we bump into each other.

Cheers Alan,

If I get many many more jobs like this I may well buy one myself.
