Title: We love Go Cardless
Post by: Lee Pryor on August 24, 2016, 03:51:46 pm
We have only been using Go Cardless since April and as of today have 1001 customers now using it.

I think its a fantastic system and it really is transforming my business. I love the email just before 4pm each day that tells me how much money has just dropped into the bank account.

If your not using it yet you should look into it. Hoping to reach 2000 users by the end of the year.

We have been using Go Cardless for a few years now...

It's good to see other companies catching up.

Approaching 50% of customers on it. Had a real big push this last few weeks. Seen another 39 sign up. Love it.

Maybe, just maybe, you will come on here one day and offer some useful advice  without feeling the need to big yourself up, you seem to have built up a very good business, I applaud you for that, but sometimes modesty goes a long way. Just saying.

Sorry KS but I think you're being very harsh here and just doing a bit of Lee Pryor bashing as so many seem to enjoy on this forum.

He's advising people who have never used it to look into it and stating what a great collection system it is. Blowing his own trumpet slightly but I'm sure you would too if you had a business of his size.

Just my thoughts

101 customers on GoCardless. Nice!

Now if you'd said 1,000 then I wouldve agreed with what the others are thinking. Let's be honest, no-one likes a bragger anyway. Keep up the good work Lee. Let us know when you get to 200.

Believe me I have had every opportunity to have a business his size (as a lot of window cleaners will have done)  Over the years I have sold thousands of pounds worth of work , work that would have made my business bigger had I wanted , at  one point I had 4 employees plus myself on the windows , but never at any point did I look down on anyone who decided they preferred to be a one man band.

what a stupid thing to say.

I am simply giving my opinion on what a great system it is and showing its possible to convert a lot of customers in a short period of time.

Oh I could have done this, I could have done that....... if I wanted to, but I didn't. Also a stupid thing to say.

I think the truth is if you could have and were able to you would have. Fact is you didn't and couldn't.

One man bands can benefit just as much from automation and systems like go cardless. Perhaps even more than a bigger company as one persons time is limited.

For the record I have never looked down on any one man band. I was one for long enough and there is a lot I miss about it.

I actually feel that more one man bands look down on people that want to be bigger than vice versa.  Just look at the way you KS have hit at me, and for what? Achieving something and learning about a system we should all be using. Well im really sorry my hard work is shot down.

Among the 'bashing' I also applauded you for building your business, you seem to have missed that bit!  You then go on and call me a twat and say I couldn't do this and couldn't do that, well that my friend you will never know, because I prefer to be modest and not brag about the finer things I have achieved in life ;)

Im in long process of getting my clients to pay via online banking and is proving successful and at no charge to myself (as of yet), however it is a pita of a job to search through my paying in section to see whos paid.
Does go cardless send you a report of whos paid as well as the total amounts per day/wk or month?

Yeah. If you use cleaner planner it goes automatically, literally one click of a button takes the money from their bank puts it in yours and updates your records.

gocardless takes a percentage of each transaction and CP will have to be upgraded to the more expensive version.is it worth it for a sole trader?mmm.......im not sure.BACS is great, standing orders and i have a few SAE still plus minimal collecting(about 3 hours a month tops these days).

i do have to text remind some customers who pay by BACS though which is sometimes a PITA.

if i could get ALL my customers on gocardless or standing order it d be great but i have lots of different types of customers.im still undecided whether to offer it yet as BACS/standing orders are  free and are pretty hassle free.

any problems with gocardless at times?

anyone running a franchise business use Go Cardless?

How have you set it up,  Franchisor as admin then franchisees as users?

No problem at all Dazmond with GoCardless. The amount of time it save in not having to check bank statements and chase people for payments is well worth the 1% fee imo.

Steve all my franchisees have their own GoCardless account and their customers are signed up to their individual accounts. As and when changes are made a simple letter explaining the changes to them and they sign up to someone elses.

Gocardless is brilliant at most things - but it sucks when it comes to payment between currencies.

I live in Ireland & have a €uro bank account - and the silly fees over here make opening a Sterling account prohibitive when the value of each incoming payment is relatively low - - but Gocardless won't allow me to take payments in Sterling & have them deposited to my €uro account - even though I regularly get manual bank transfers in different currencies.

Its a great system for most ppl, but this one major limitation means its 100% useless for me. :(

Thanks Sunshine

I assume you take your banks details off your calling cards and offer Go Cardless only

What details do you give the customer to make payment too, is it Go Cardless's bank details?

You must've gone really aggressive on it?  Has it cost you any customers?

Hi Steve

There are two options of utilising GoCardless in conjunction with Aworka, 1: as Sunshine explained 2: Similar to 1 except the payment goes to a central account, clients sign up once regardless of how many operators service the account- not the greatest explanation but I trust it makes sense, perhaps Vin can explain better as I believe he uses this option. Either way clients sign up via a link in the paperless emailed invoice.

We do it through a central account.  We collect the money acting as agents for the franchisees - we also make it clear that the money's never ours.  Much simpler for the customer IMO as the franchisees can swop work if necessary without any action from the customer.

Vin, Thats what I wanted to hear, If a franchisee leaves, setting the new franchisee up would be a straight forward process

Another quick question

Does Go Cardless only request payment from customer when job is marked of as done on Aworka?
