Made a monumental cockup yesterday!
A few weeks back i went and quoted for a full gutter, fascia and window clean on a property. The fella accepted and I was due to carry out the work yesterday.
When i got to the area, i thought i'd better just check the house number on my previous correspondence with him. I thought i was at the right block of terraces and just wanted to double check.
Looked at the text and all of a sudden it dawned on me that i'd quoted the wrong property. I had originally looked at number 8, when it said number 18 on the message.
I'm praying as I'm driving round the corner that number 18 is within another block of small 2 bed terraces, but noooooooooooooooo! It's a fooking massive 4 bed semi-detached with gutters everywhere.
Called him up straight away to say i couldn't possibly carry out the job yesterday, as there simply wasn't enough time left in the day at 3pm.
I have however agreed to fit it in at the agreed price when I have time to do so. The job is £140 short of what i would have charged for it :'(

Take it like a man... :P
then sort it out for a day you would not normally work ie saturday or sunday or bank holiday..
Then whatever you have charged will be a bonus for the week, and not a task extra in a day..
All psychological you see... ;D ;D

Pass on to one of your franchisees and make 20% for the mistake ;D

I've done that loads of times but always the other way round. I normally make at least £180 more than expected and have time to get another two in before lunch. Don't worry about it- typical newbie mistake.

😂😂😂 now you're talking 👍 I'd never get away with it. They'd tell me to get stuffed at the price I quoted.

Must be back breaking using a 30' pole on these jobs :o

I'd have just explained my mistake and requoted. I'm certain they would understand.

I would have normally, but I'd already messed him about by forgetting to clean it at the end of last month :o. Felt a bit guilty to be honest.

Next door popped over tonight and said her dad had booked a firm in to clear his guttering, replace some broken tiles and clean the moss off the roof. She said why did you not tell me sooner as I know just the man. Turns out he was quoted 3.5k but knocked them down to 2.8 k. To top it off next door agreed to have theirs done too. That just goes to show what some people are willing to pay for a job that will take less than a couple of days per property ::)roll
