Having recently moved to a new house that has a water meter I have become a lot more aware of the amount of waste water I throw down the drain everyday. So I was wondering, is it possible to save this waste water into another tank and then recycle it?

mine goes into tank then if I do any trad I use that and in this weather use it to water garden not too sure about running it through r/o  again is a good idea

maybe go DI only if your tap tds is low?its a lot less hassle than  an RO.quicker too.plus you ll save on your water bill.

I tried to and it just increases the tds of the water going back in. Combined with the hassle and extra resin for bringing the water down to 000ppm if found it wasn't worth it. Now have a 4040 at 50% rejection rate and my bill is almost the same as when I wasn't in a metre

TDS of ro waste water is a much higher than normal tap water so the best place for it is downs the drain really.

If like me you are unlucky to live in a hard water area would be a total waste of time, effort and money to try recycling it back through a ro/di setup. Not to mention you would also need large tanks to store ro waste water in before you get around to recycling it.

Ionics years ago produced a system I think it was called pro 6 that so say reduced the amount of waste. Not sure how it worked but users seemed to slate it as the running costs were much higher than their other systems. That's saying something as their other systems the running costs were very high anyway.
