Hi Guys,
Just a quick one. Have a 595kg payload and need to go and fill up a load of barrels tomorrow(More than normal) so will squeeze in an extra 250-300 litres which will put it over by about 250-300KG(as I litre per kg roughly)
Will this be ok just for a 40 min drive? I will offload asap at the other end but has anyone been that much over there payload before?
Thanks.

Its absolutely fine ...........unless you get caught by vosa then your in trouble :o
-
Overweight by 50%?
You'll bottom out, almost definitely.
I wouldn't.
Perhaps take your system in your van and fill up on site?
-
I wouldnt risk it.
You might just have to drive home to fill up and return to the job.
Last thing you want is a broken spring and have you stuck waiting in breakdown.
Or worse....... Vosa or an accident.

There is a max payload for a good reason bud

Curveball suggestion - 2 trips!

Get someone to sit in the back and hold barrels off the floor.

Or maybe just get a bigger van with a much bigger payload as you will need one at some point anyway as your business grows.
This might be a silly question but how come you don't make your own pure as no way would I travel 40 mins each way to buy it thats for sure.
-
my old combo was 595kg payload and occasionally first thing it may have been over by 100kg,s but you could see just looking at it was too heavy plus it had the stronger astra strings on the rear (I think) I would never have took it up to 900kg

Fair play guys. Wake up call needed. Don't think I will risk it. Just frustrating as in the middle of moving and don't have my own water supply as of yet(been relying on a mate)and just didn't want to have to make another 2 hour round trip. Still not worth the risk with being so much overweight.
Thanks again. Will stick to the payload :-)

I thought we have left the EU and now the EU has come to Clean it up.
That could be your kid he can't stop in time for.

What's the EU got to do with it ;D
-
@slapbash
I'm sorry you are piqued because your spray tin joke thread was removed.
I'm also sorry that you embedded your comment about the EU into the middle of your quoting me as you didn't post properly, but that's ok I can work out what you were attempting to do.
As pointed out by another poster it has nothing to do with the EU just as your posting on your spray can thread has nothing to do with any church.
If you feel that going 50% over the weight on a van is a good idea in contravention of manufacturers weight limits and UK laws then I suggest that the problem lies with you not anyone else.
Hope that helps too.

Sometimes when i read your posts i start to think you must be on crack or sniffing glue ..............having seen and dealt with the aftermath of many car/van/lorry accidents your flippant comment makes my blood boil .

Well slap never said ........
Ye mate that would be ok.......just like I had my post deleted for saying I would drive overweight, but not to come on the next day an have a rant if the van bottomed out, just like a post up there says he 100kg over first thing in the morning.
The op asked a question and was given people's opinions
No one said it will be perfectly safe, and I says if u guna drive leave plenty of braking distance, as if the op is going to try his luck no one on here wants him to have an accident, and certainly not kill anyone.
Slaps post regarding the spray can was just a bit of fun and if u guna pull it apart then please delete all non window cleaning posts out of this section and make it fair, coz the way I see it, certain members can post wot they want wen they want, and swear in there topics.
It's it ok to crack a joke an suggest someone sits in the back and holds them which some members think us funny, but in reality u adding the weight of the person.
It's a forum and ye there shouldn't be any swearing but it happens ...... A lot !
So come on mr gold, let's be fair and not have any favourites

There's forum rules against swearing and offensive stuff. So far there isn't a rule against humour as far as I'm aware. Unfortunately people have trouble seperating the two. Facebook is the place for low level IQ's from what I've seen. Good place to brag about yourself too. There is a report to mod button on here and more than one person did.
-
My point was regarding mr gold deleting posts out Of this topic, and mine or slaps never contained any swear words, and neither says to the op to drive overweight
I agree as said above with regards to using swear words on the forum, but just be consistent.
Same rules for everyone hey !

Well "Matt." Let me explain how something you have perceived as personal is not.
I cannot remember deleting anything of yours - I don't read every post that comes on here and I certainly haven't got the inclination to pick my way through poor grammar and spelling to work out what has been said. If I see something that is blatant or obvious then I will follow the forum rules and delete it.
Now - if someone reports a post as being offensive then I read what has been posted and look at the merits of taking action or not. But please note that all reported posts are sent to all moderators and admin and so often a matter has been dealt with by someone else before I even knew about it.
If more than one person reports a post as being offensive then it is likely that it will definitely be removed - but not always.
Now let me mention the specifics about payload.
If a poster posts the essence of "load it up way beyond the legal limit, who cares, crack on" it will get removed and if a poster persisted and had a pattern of this then they would likely get banned. Why would a poster want to encourage this? Perhaps you can explain.
If a poster says - in my early days I used to go 10% over but wouldn't now then that is not encouraging it is it? It shows the poster has realised he was unwise and suggests no one else takes the risk.
Anyway tea break's over - back on yer heads.
