Is burning weeds a temporary fix or would it permanently do damage to root and prevent a regrowth?

If you can get to the root then yes it will kill the weed. However nothing will prevent weeds springing up again as you can't beat Mother Nature even using a licensed weed killer will only keep them at bay once they start to comeback.
The burner dose seem to work and is a handy cig lighter whilst working too  ;D ;D

Expensive but reliable!  My Rothenberger Torch is over 12 years old and still going strong like new!  You gets what you pay for!
Oops I forgot you like Lidl don't you? ;D ;D ;D

No I have only ever soldered a few miles of copper pipe , joints and rads with it and installed the odd couple of bathrooms with it.  So I probably need a bit of practice with one ???

You mean a small hand held plumbers Rothenberger torch then not the type they sell for roofers  ???

Same thing, same technology just a different head.  I will have a couple of roofers ones as well somewhere that was my Dad's Profession;D.  Those will  be at least 35 years old.  I was talking about the build quality mainly.  They just alter the Jets, head and the pipe to the burner.

Spent 5 hours on an external property clean today including fsg clean and removing ivy suckers from the plastics, brickwork on the back an side of the house with a pw turbo nozzle. Then softwashed the front of the property too including the apex cladding.

Got to go back to finish off tomorrow and remove the ivy suckers left on the side upper painted pebble dash wall ffs as they don't want it painted over  ::)roll

As its painted pebble dash  I will be burning thoes suckers off with a gas burner like a true pro so will have to go and buy a new burner in the morning and gas bottle as that lidl thing would take forever to do.

I will have a hose pipe handy just incase the house goes up as I found out today soaking SH on walls when a burner is applied don't arf make a good flame. Good job I was wearing me face shield or would have burnt me beard  ;D ;D

Today I used a 3000 psi reduction gearbox interpump ws202 15 lpm pressure washer throttled down with a lance and turbo nozzle which I found was the quickest and easiest way to get rid of ivy suckers/tendrils on plastics and brickwork. Then used some hypo afterwards to clean the plastics back to white were needed and wfp the windows afterwards.

A steamer works well on plastics too to get rid of those pesky dead ivy suckers.
