Like most of us on wfp i send a standard group txt to my customers night before im coming. Have done so for a while now. Ever wondered what happens if you get send it to a wrong number?
Next day (today) i get a phone call saying ive been reported to police as he doesnt know who i am and his local council hasnt sent me so therefore hes past my details to police. So i phone him back up and hes no where near doncaster where i work and so i explained whats what n obviously a wrong number. But as im explaining it, it sounds dodgey lol.
Im just waiting on a call from police station in maybe a months time or so

I had one, chasing an overdue bill via text message, I got a call from a rather irate gentleman from Glasgow (150 miles from me) asking why I'm chasing his 13 year old daughter for money.  :-[

Either someone gave me the wrong number or the number was cancelled then re-used. Either way, not what you need on a Monday morning.

Ooops.

Other than a few on here I don't know of any shiners who text customers the night before wfp or other, so I
don't know what gave you the impression it was the norm.
Some people really do like making a rod for their own back. lol.

I txt a lot of custys the night before, it doesn't make the job any more difficult than not texting custys . I know what jobs are scheduled for the next day , some custys I don't even know, there's no access to rear so I txt them to unlock their gate and then they pay online . Saves f* ing about climbing gates , I rarely even have ladders in the van

This.

Payment comes quicker too, sometimes before you've even cleaned them.

I don't do locked gates or clambering over walls, fences, flat roofs etc as am way too old.
I just stick to the easy access ones as is far less hassle.

Me neither. Cleaner Planner sends a text and the gate is unlocked. It's like magic.

First time this has happened. From now on i will make sure i comfirm any number im given.
So for the old school approach and turn up and hope for best or hop the fence or any other trouble it brings, may i suggest to you other shiners on wfp to try n make it easier on yourselfs and txt ahead of coming  and see how you get on.  However saying that, im able to because my rounds are established rounds of 14yrs and i work virtually every day so know where i am from one day to next and so i am able to do this. Some may not be as fortunate and may be scared to txt ahead of coming incase they are told to skip this clean etc, so i can understand some hesitation. But modern technology is here and its time to move forward with it rather than sticking religously to old school approach perhaps.

That's if they don't forget or you send a text that goes to a stranger.  ::)roll
You must also get the ones that text back saying "Not this time" too for whatever reason  ;D

Lol apart from this police reported one!! The onky txt backs are the ones who were on holiday. If i dont get a txt bk and gate isnt opened, i charge 75% of full house. As my schedule is quite full most days, for sake of maybe dropping a tenner on one day for someone being on hol, isnt really a pain in ass for me to skip. (Im grateful ive built a compact round up, four rounds, all rounds are compact in an area, so one round im in same area for four days for instance. )
More work.......i have same box standard group txt i send and a five min job whilst having a coffee just to select which customers im sending it to. Job done. ;D

Nathan, by starting the text with an 'evening all' you should be done for impersonating a police occifer.
It doesn't much more shameful than that. That's worse than Soupy's.

ACAB.

I have quite a few with stables, swimming pools, and electric gates.

I text these ones; some live in places where mobile phone signal is poor, so I phone these ones.

My response would have been something like:  That's fine, as you know we offer FSG cleaning to our regular  customers, but if you'd rather use someone else perhaps you'd better get them to do the windows in future as well.
