I have just been thinking as you do...
You guys running a multi van business on an employment basis, what is your profit margin in % after all expenses?
-
5.5%
-
Should be around 30-40% profit I reckon
-
That's about right Sunshine, 30-40% employee wage, 25% tax 5% expenses, 30/40% profit
-
Sounds a high percentage for net profit
Are you taking into account -
Accountants fees for being VAT registered
Unit
Employee liability insurance
Holiday / sick Pay
Business rates if applicable
fleet insurance
Tracker
Water
Filters
Office staff
Equipment, poles etc
Van payment for contract hire or used van purchases every few years & maintenance costs
There is probably more...
-
5% expenses. Love it.
-
Steve 20-25% net
There's your best answer
-
If its just one extra van the margins will be higher. The more vans you add the margin % falls but overall profit rises
-
Thanks Chaps...Thats the answer I was expecting as is the national average for UK companies
Lee, I pinged you an email in the week

Depends what people define as expenses? Weather you use your vehicles strictly for work or not? Weather employee costs go in the "expenses" box or the "wages" box. So Broad questions get vague answers! ::)roll

Year on year a business running at 9 % net would be considered successful as turnover increases. Just my twopence worth before you remortgage. And that means getting everything right.
-
depends on the work and how its priced , the rest is the same wether you have 1 van or 12
