I have a prob locking van using central locking on an 04 connect
Central locking isn't working at all checked fuses all fine...the radio and interior light stopped working same time too...anyone any ideas what's up?
Bad enough with no rcl never mind none at all
Cheers

I'd check all the fuses again.

only yesterday i fixed the central locking on my transit van, the key fob would lock the doors and then the doors would all unlock again. my cause was a broken wire at the rear door, there`s a hard plastic tube like cover that protects the wiring loom inside from getting caught when shutting the rear door, mine had split so the wires inside were getting crushed when closing the door which inevitably lead to a broken wire.
might be an idea to check yours

yes had the same problem with my connect!!!theres black plastic sleeves either side of the rear doors holding wires, they get crushed-this caused problems with the central locking

Why havn't you got rcl?

It was working no problem until I went to put a new locking module in it and then cannot get it working again....put the old module in and still nothing at all...van never had rcl so I was putting in a rcl module to be able to have it and now have this problem
I will double check all fuses again tomorrow just to be sure but I doubt it t
The .... strange how it knocked the radio and interior light as well and nothing else

Have you reprogrammed the key fob?
The central locking are on the same circuit as the courtesy lights, so it sounds like a wiring/fuse problem
Sorry to sound patronising but are you sure you've checked the correct fuses?
Also maybe worth unplugging the courtesy/interior lights and then try (take off the casing and pull out the light. Then unplug)
The fuses aren't in either of the main fuse cluster, they're until the driver footwell, above the pedals, just to the right if the steering column...
(Added later - if it is a dodgy interor light, its usually the one in the back not in the cab)

04 plate should have rcl as far as I'm aware. My son in laws 53 T220L has rcl.
Central locking was an issue with early Connects. The interior light and the radio are also linked to this rcl issue and controlled by the ECU.
Ford had a replacement program that is supposed to sort out all these problems. Unfortunately you will have to contact a Ford Workshop to get it reprogrammed.
There is also a wiring loom issue at the rear offside which can also trigger issues with the central locking as a couple of other posters have said. There isn't much slack in the wiring harness and cables are known to get damaged on a sharp edge where side and rear panel join.
There is a relay up in the fuse box behind the glove box which is rather difficult to access. There are a couple of relays that all look the same. I have no idea which one it is but you might be able to identify it using the owner's manual.

I'd say it's obviously a fuse. Other than that and as posted above, it's the wiring which seems unlikely.
You can buy a replacement fob on amazon for about a tenner but it's needs to be programmed which is dead simple and can be found on the net.
It's something like: Put key in ignition, turn it on and off 6 times in under 10 seconds and press any key on the fob. Job done.
The 04 does have rcl as I have an 03 with rcl.

The remote can be programmed with no specialist tools utilising a manual procedure as follows:
- Insert a programmed key into the ignition
- Turn the key from the off to on position 8 times
- You will hear the vehicles locks cycle
- Press any button on the remote
- Again you will hear the locks cycle
- Turn the key to the off position and remove from the ignition
- Wait 10 seconds and test the remote
- Job done!!

I've never had rcl since having the van...mechanic told me van didn't have it, just have a plain key no fob button, was told I needed a rcl module an new fob to be able to get rcl which is what I tried and now ended up with this prob....
It was working perfectly before I touched it so I'm hoping it's something simple enough...I'll rip out all the fuses and replace e them to be sure, I haven't got the Manuel to check what the relays do not I'll Google it and see maybe if one of them blown or something
-
I have a new key fob I bought online already and I've tried to reprogramme it a load of times but there's no life In the locks at all or noise to say it's n reprogramming mode
I didn't know there were any fuses under the footwork area in this van The
Doesn't seem to be power getting to the locks and with the radio and lights not working it has to be a fuse hopefully or a relay maybe I dunno

I take it you're 'trixyben'? ;D
When you say you've checked the fuse, have you checked number 63 on the back of the fuse box? Take the box out by undoing the bolts and turn it around a little until you see it...(This is for central locking, RCM etc...)
Might be worth checking fuse 61 as well (central locking & hazards)
And the 2 fuses on the steering column

I am indeed on another forum well found ha
Yeah I've checked fuse 63 it's fine but I can't see any around the steering column at all I'll have to have another good look tomorrow hopefully that's what it is
