Has your SLX been repaired at anytime? i.e. a bit sawed off and a new clamp glued on?

edit- re-read your post.

I'll shaddup now.

It seems that the extension thats fitted is longer than the other sections of the pole ......i guess my only option is to cut the extension down . >:(

I was planning to take it on and off but i could leave it on i suppose .

Whats the solution?

Also stephen , in the near future i plan on buying an extreme 25 v3 , with a 35 extension , does the tubeless conversion work with that pole?

I just added a number 9 extreme base section that I bought off a mate to my super max 40 .
Had same problem, although I use my s max with 3 sections removed ( well now 4 ) most the time as a 25 ft.
I just took a hacksaw to its base, a bit drastic but it only cost me £70 and my s max is 5 + years old anyhow. Had to cut about 2 " 's off and replace end cap, not bothered as it works great now and the extra section is definitely making things easier for me.. I'm a big fan of tubeless ( was diy'ing my own before exceeds ). The versatility and cost saving of one pole and adding/removing sections so quickly outweighs the small initial cost of the kit and faff of any modification that's needed. ;)

I will keep the section attached then if you send out the solution.

Does the univalve work well with the tubless setup? I use a flow valve at present with a loop in pole hose.

Yes it does. I use both. But you must get the right amount of tension on the hose in the number 1 section of pole between the bung in its base and where you put the o clip on the other end where it comes out the goose neck for it to work well but once you have its sorted.

I can't see any advantage only hindrance of wanting a tubeless pole if you want to put on or take off sections for certain jobs myself. Run the pole hose on the outside...Job done  ;D

If you can't but others can then why should it matter to you ?
If we all thought like you we would  be living in little mushroom shaped houses in the woods  :D

As I mentioned it does matter as I like the option to add pole sections when required so the tubeless idea would be no good for me and I'm sure a few others too.

Both methods work perfectly well Smurf. Personally having used a modular pole with hose on outside years ago, I prefer the tubeless method but maybe that's just me. Its no more of a hindrance.

It is a hindrance if like the op wanted to take off the extention when not needed. That is the main reason why I bothered to comment in the first place.  ;D

hi smurf

i daily add and remove sections having  done so for years prior to using to using a tubeless  kit, it just works in reverse for me now

prior to tubeless kit i would thread up the 22 section or the 35 twin sections up the pole hose attach them, then connect to hose pipe

Now i have a standard 18 extreme set up with tubeless kit then if i want a 22 section i just reverse the process i thread the pole hose through the section connect the tubeless kit turn of water flow with the univalve then put  on the sections

i find it not an issue as you get to know your jobs and what sections i need as i'll only work with what length section i need on a job just to keep weight at minimum

but each person does it differently

In a way I could say all my poles are tubeless as I prefer to run the pole hose on the outside of my poles. The poles & sections are stored away without any pole hose on them whatsoever as that is kept on the hose reel.
