So after posting on here about a split hose i contacted purefreedom wks ago and sent in photos of the split 8mm reinforced hose. The split goes down a good 20m or more on hose. Each time i phone up its still with manufactory and today i was told the person who deals with it is on holiday. This has been around four weeks now!
I explained ive done a temp fix by sttong flexi glue but i work everyday all day with hose and this temp measure wont last.
They dont seem that bothered!
If people ask about purefreedom i know what advice i would give.

You really think you should be getting a replacement hose on an 11 month old hose ??? ::)roll

Just bin it and buy another hose is what I would do.

Mate,,I spent over £700 pounds with them a couple of months back and had an issue with a leaking lid on my 500 litres tank,,they kept fobbing me off and never returned my calls,,I can understand your frustration ,I had over 1000 views on my post about them, pity you never saw it before you made your purchase eh,,if you payed through pay pal you coul take the matter up with them and they should be able to mediate for you

Looks like the hose has snagged on some mortar and peeled a strip off. There will be a little green pile of plastic on the ground of someones property most likely.
I've had to buy another roll of Gardiners microbore that's gone like a string of sausages. I think it gets pulled so hard it stretches and breaks down the strengthening fibres.

may be faulty dave as we have one the same that's only three months old !
-
Its definitely a fault as i know i have not snagged it as many think! The split runs for more than 20 meters down the hose, am i that crazy to tug n pull the hose for that length to come thru,,,,,i dont think so. On a thread ive started about "pics of wfp" you can see i have the hose straped to holsters on my belt so any slight snag will stop me in my tracks

All the same its been a year, working day in day out, through hot and cold - and you don't walk around a house with the hose just clipped to your waist you will be pulling with your hand - that's not to say you have damaged it, but their is a pssibility that has happened ( done it myself - no real resistance, only to find a bit of Flint on pebble dash render has taken out a chunk over a few meters. )
I've had bin lorries run over hose, and survive, but many months later it does start to wear more quickly at that spot.
Basically what I'm saying is it's a wear and tear item that's a year old, if you came back to me I'd not replace it, but then again I wouldn't be looking to get a new freebie hose either ( not worth the hassle against the cost ) - 3 or 4 weeks old different story.

I'm just about to order this green hose!
I've used Gardiner 6mm for over two years mabey three and I always remember seeing those little yellow shredded parts of hose on a wall. As much as you know your run all it takes is one jaggy edge and it's a 10-20 metre walk round to your next window.
Not saying yours isn't faulty though.
-
Was there a warranty given with it?
-
Nathan a blind man could see there's a fault with that hose, unfortunately I cant see you getting any joy from this company
and because its 11 months old it wouldn't be worth the risk taking them to small claims.
Let it go and take pleasure in knowing that anybody with a bit of common sense who has read and followed your posts on the subject wont be buying their hose anytime soon.

Alan It would take it to be really bad to cause severe damage to a hose, I have left many yellow shreds on the corners of walls
and my 5 year old hose is still going strong.

Thank you and yes im begining to sense that with a lack of communication from pure freedom. They say all right things when you phone them but nnothing seems to follow thru.
I did traditional cleaning for 14 yrs and some things u expect to replace regular, rubbers n sleeves for instance not ladders. Tho yes i dropped my ladders a couple of times but still good to go. Likewise now that im on wfp. I expect brushes not to last, but i dont expect to be replacing my hose on a yearly or less basis unless obviously i do something stupid.

Me too, no probs with mine and they're older than that.
-
I'm not defending them and I've still to order new hose!
I think it would be jinxed if I ordered it. I'll probably still buy their pump and controller board unless I hear anything else.
-
The annoying thing is, when i first contacted them (pure freedom) i was told by them, that a chap had same problem but his hose was only 4wks old.
No one started accusing him of schredding it on flint, sharp bricks or any of the other rubbish that is coming my way. But according to everyone, these are the reasons why my hose is spliting oh and yes its 11mnths old so i shud expect it. Yet this chaps hose is only 4wks old and all the above shredding that in my mind doesnt care if a hose is a day old or months old, doesnt come into the equation. Dont figure!?
Tho love to hear peoples opinions on it
-
I have three of their bright green hoses. One is two years, one is 16 months and one is 10 months. All still going strong.

Why would they tell you that if they don't want to know about yours?

Sabotage?

Because it was when i first contacted them and by the receptionist. Because a wk later when i phoned them to question why ive not heard from them, they were whistling a different tune then.

Surely you wanted opinions ? It's difficault to tell from the blurry photo what the general state of the hose is in, people have offered possibilities for my part an inherent defect that causes delamination normally occurs in the first couple of months, hence the 4 week guy got replacement it would be clear that a defect has happened and that the hose overall would be like new.
Secondly, at virtually a year, it's not worth the hassle and time when its £45 to get a brand new one.
( regardless of what was wrong with it )

I actually think it's remarkable that hose lasts a year with the abuse it takes every day. It's ridiculous to be making such a fuss.

So what would you rather spend your money on, a hose that's lasts two or three years or one that lasts eleven months ?
Who would you rather spend your money with, a company that cares about their customers or one that doesn't want to know
after the money has changed hands ?
At the end of the day Pure freedom cant even be bothered to make a decision on the matter one way or the other which is
not what I would call any type of customer service.
I also guarantee that most on here would be making a fuss if all they where getting from a hose rough handling or not was eleven months.
-
11 months?
Par for the course I'd say.

Seriously change your supplier or stop using pole hose, there's no reason why you shouldn't get four or more years from
a quality reinforced hose.
I actually took a 3 inch chunk out of my hose down to the string about 20 meters in and bought a repair fitting encase it started to leak, this was three years ago and I still haven't used it.
The hose is starting to kink in places because of wear but all I need to do is take it off the reel and start using the opposite end,
that way I might even get another 4 years from it.

My supplier (Ionics) recently changed theirs from orange to a funny looking baby blue colour. Personally I don't believe that about 1 year hard usage (trust me when I say the usage will be extremely hard - all weathers, employees as apposed to personal usage Scottish winters etc) is less than should be expected.

I am tight with money, like most i have a family. Young family, 2 in nappies (new born n 1 half yr) price of a hose will oay for no end of nappies or baby stuff or toys for ickle ones. If it was wear n tear i can accept that and buy another one. I dont mind spending on work stuff as it will make me money, but this isnt and its a matter of principle! I dont mind the drama and feel vindicated when it is sorted, too many people (british culture) bend over and take it up the .......either cant be fussed or just used to it. Im not one of them.
It is a reinforced hose. Ive glued it at mo with a flexible strong bonding glue but wont last. Tho i like idea of swapping ends on reel. Will do that this wknd. Cheers for the idea

Is that hose still for sale on the pf website as I had a look recently and can't see it?
