Title: Roof cleaning chemicals
Post by: clayton taylor on May 31, 2016, 08:04:34 pm
Hi guys 😀

I'm wanting to try and clean my slate roof on the house.

Just wondered if people have done this or do it for a buisness and could tell me the best way to do it. Didn't know if I could just use a chemical or would have to use my jet washer?.

Many thanks

Depends on what's you are trying to clean off the roof....

Algae only - chemical spray will do it - either algoclear/quats or sodium hypochrorite

If it's moss/ lichen/grime buildup then pressure wash but with a mini FSC ( not turbo nozzle ) or 15 degree fan jet

Whatever you do do not walk on a slate roof when cleaning use high access equipment

Hi Darren,

Cheers for your reply.

Yes just algae mainly. The sodium do you dilute it and then spray on?. I chose this one as it seems the cheapest🙈 As long as it works.

Dilute to 3 to 1

Try not to get overspray over next doors washing or passers by
