It just seems to be catastrophically expensive :(

As a biz we couldn't get any insurance if under 21
21 to 25 costs us about 1,200 squid
Over 25 much better

The guy we just took on is 24. It didn't cost a penny extra to add him to the two policies. I was rather surprised.

We have any driver over 21 but sometimes need to get a named addition who's under 21. Normally it's about an extra £500+ for that one driver.
It's much easier to do face to face with a broker though. Over the phone / online isn't really any use.

Go through some of the specialist's: Adrian Flux, Lancaster etc as they seem to be good at tailor made policies rather than reading from a script.

I'm 24 and have been window cleaning for 7 years now. Started with an Astravan at £2000. Got a Navara on an aviva multicar policy covered for work and they are the best I've ever had. £320 now with the wife on. Aparenty they are good for young drivers as long as the motor ain't to powerful.

Try avviva
My son was 18 and it was around £700 to get him on policy

Thanks for all the replies. It looks like a 4x4 isnt as bad as thought. The NFU also wern't as bad. Will try some of the others suggested. I don't know how the young uns are expected to mamage
-
Surely they're off the mamage by the time they're driving?

I've got an 18 year old working for me.......I'm hoping we don't have to add him to our policy's.

I was insured with Aviva a few years back, I had an ' open driving policy ' meaning anyone with a clean licence was insured to drive my vans, no age restriction, it was around £500 per van, not sure if they still offer this cover tho.

we have all ours on fleet which is any driver at all as long as they have under 6 points and no drink driving bans , 700 each window cleaning van and the two truck mounts run it at 1400 each as all the gear in the back covered as well
