Title: New Woodbridge T/m ( Pics)
Post by: Chris R on May 20, 2006, 11:44:38 pm
I just wanted to thank Phil and the team at Woodbridge for an excellent job fitting my new T/M on Thursday.

It was not an easy fit, my van is quite small and narrow ( Vauxhall Vivaro), but it all went in, nice and tidy, with plenty of room to spare.

Thanks
Chris

Chris, it does look a nice set up. My question to you though is where are you going to put all the other

stuff you need? Also and I hate to bring it up, but if you read the other post on it the way you have the

petrol tank set up is both extremely dangerous and by accounts illegal. It looks like you have the room

to put it in properly between the machine and the hose reel. Wouldnt take up much usable space

and forgetting the legalities it would be less of an explosion risk. Where it is, when you vent it and if

you dont vent it it will stall, the fumes will be drawn directly to the engine, a source of ignition. I am

not trying to be negative about how it is you have set it all up, just that if it was me I would run a mile if

you were to start the machine. Hope this helps, best, Dave.

Hi Dave,
Can you supply a link to "the other post on it" please? The fuel tanks not fixed, so can easily be moved, but this is how Woodbridge fitted it for me.
I will check it out.
Cheers

The post is....fuel tank/calgon type thing....or similar. Also, did you insulate your van before you panelled it? If not you will need to get a heater of some sort so you dont freeze it all up in the winter, best, Dave.

Having spent the weekend fitting shelves and hooks to the inside of my van, I finally managed to get everything in !  ;D
Apart from the T/M and sub mount tank, hose reel and 200ft pipe I have
2 x twin jet wands ( hanging from straps on the ceiling )
10x 5 litre chemical containers on various shelves.
Pile brush
1 x Turbo dryer
1 x Ninja HWE machine
2 x 3 litre pump up sprayers
1 x Upright vac cleaner
1 x klanz K7 carpet scrubber
Tool kit
Dust sheets
Buckets x 2
Hose pipe
I can get at the waste tank drain valve without moving anything, but to get the waste tank lid off I have to move the Ninja and a couple of buckets.
Should have been on the Krypton Factor  ;)

Chris,

I would have the Portable out of there straight away, mark my words you wont use it.

Also BUCKETS ??? ??? What are they for? Them days are over!

I only take my dryer when doing suites!
So there's a load of room you can free up.

Phil

give it a week and that ninja will be collecting dust in your garage  :D :D

once you feel the power of a real machine using a portables is like wearing a condom .. it never feels the same and your performance begins to suffer  :o :o

Ps Phil jumped in while i was typing, just goes to show great minds think alike :D

Look at that, I can turn my Cd on and dance in that van.
I take Dryer only when cleaning suites and Rotary when I need it.

Rgds
Phil

Mike,

That Oreck you gave me has a mind of its own, its difficult to control. Am I doing something wrong or do the brushes really need wearing down more.

if you've bought a new brush then it definitely needs wearing in or it will be impossible to control

it should feel the same as when you use a bonnet.

Thanks Lads  ;D

my main problem at the moment is getting used to the bloody 2 inch hose !

Its got a mind of its own  ???

Do you just pull it off the reel and straight into the house ( picking up all the crap off the drive), or pull off 50ft and carry it in ?

Tried that, what a wally I looked  :o

I miss my nice, easy 1 half inch porty hose !

Chris

Hi Chris

Just looking at you first photos. The look very clean and smart. Sarah even commented how nice it looked.

One thing i would try to get sorted soon if i were you though and that is your fuel line! It is too short and poses quite a risk when streched out like it is, also at the tank end it is barely on the barbs of the connector, That is a priority repair!

Looking very nice though

Cheers Goron

Thanks Goron,
yes, I have a few little "tweaks" to sort out.

Nothing major.

Some people may say that Hydramaster or Prochem would perhaps have fitted it different.

Thats fair enough. But I would point out that the machine was only £7600, and the stainless steel (sub mount) tank only £700 ( plus vat).

The equivalent Hydramaster Boxer or Prochem Legend are about £4000 more !

I am very happy so far!

Chris, its handy to have a coil of hose with a 1 1/2"  whip on which you can carry into the house. That way this section is always clean. I find I rarely have to use more than 70'.
How about doing a diary like Mark did for your first couple of weeks?

I'll second that about the portable after a couple of weeks the thought of having to get it out the van will fill you with horror. Mine now stays in the workshop for cleaning rugs and will never go out on another job.

Hi john, :)

What length of Whip hose do other T/Mers use?

Thanks

I have about 8 ft if I use my 1.5" wand.

Do you carry 50ft of hose into the house Shaun, or drag it straight off the hose reel?
Cheers

Chris, to jump on the band wagon you will end up not using the portable. Also

did you insulate the van? Last thing, I posted a picture once but cant remember

how I did it. If nothing else I will show you what I did with the fuel tank. So if

you can let me know how and I will post the picture. Best, Dave.

With regards to heating your van you can get a 400 watt ceramic panel from Machine Mart for about 30 quid. Just screws onto your bulkhead and plug it into the mains.

Chris she's looking good well done  8)

As to your coment on hoses, they look remarkably like the ones hydramaster supply, which i will assume they are similar or the same they take a while to bed in mine are about 8 months old now and just bed in nice they coil realy easy now, and yes I always keep a length of both vac and solution which I carry in by hand and keep at home when doing commercial work, you can get hose cleaners which you bolt in the back of the van conect a solution line to it on high pressure and pull your vac hose through as realling it on, but imo they arent much cop, your better off buying a pressure lance and cleaning them once a week, every thing gets a coat of wax weekly and all the brasses get some cilit bang she still looks brand new but I have got too much time on my hands

Things you need in the van though include a ramp, corner guards and signs

Things you dont need are a portable and buckets

All the best
James

James, I have the same machine as Chris, when you say everything gets waxed, what do you mean exactly?

What do you do to keep your machine looking new forever?

Phil
Title: Re: New Woodbridge T/m ( Pics)
Post by: BRSL on May 24, 2006, 01:42:39 am
Phill  "Yes"

By waxing I mean I take everything out the van put it on the drive and using my hydraforce with tutle wax n wash I presure wash it all, it all looks the same now as the day I bought it but im a bit anal, a drop or disafectant in the waste tank at the end of every day keeps that smelling fresh and stops sediment setteling and a drop of cilit bang on brasses and bolts keeps them looking like new too, I did have a couple of bolts on the TM starting to rust a bit the other day but I treated them with rust converter.

Do you think it's a bit over the top, I even wash my chemical tubs

oh I do have a light scratch on the top of the waste tank lid but you can only see it in a certain light

James

Hi all
I have just spent out on a brand new van & a Prochem Apex diesel. After weeks of problems I finally picked up the van on Friday. I checked with prochem the size of van required so I plumped for the Fiat Ducato MWB H/roof.
Dropped the van off to prochem today & was told that the van was too small :o. They said that It was more like a SWB than a MWB and to check that I had not been sold the wrong vehicle! You can imagine the nice thought that I had bought a 10k van and it was useless :'(.
I rang Fiat who cross referenced the chassis number with their computer & confirmed it was MWB. I rang Prochem back who said they would proceed but it would be tight on the hose reel being fitted.
Seeing the Woodbridge kit going onto a Vivaro makes me feel it is going to go. It can't be that big.....Can it?!!

I could be wrong but I think the deisels are kuboto 3 cylinder deisal plants not like the v twin on the woodbridge, because of the size they dont have sub mount tanks they mount them under the reels maybee thats the problem it will be a squeeze, would be worth checking what your max weight limit is too, I got a 3.5 tonn transit and with all my kit a full tank of water and a passenger I cant add no more weight, witch I forget every now and then to empty my waste tank, could get me in trouble

Michel

Its the SWB. I would probably go for the LWB if I was buying another van. The SWB can carry 1000kg, but the LWB is OK for 1200KG ( I think).

I bought the van new a few years ago, with no thought of fitting a T/M in it at that time.

I can afford to buy a new T/M, but not a new van  ;D

The only thing I cant fit in is my Dry Fusion kit, but I hope that the T/M, fitted with a greenglide, will do away with the need for it.

Cheers

The Ducato is a 3.3 tonne so I am not a million miles away. If I had gone for the LWB I would have only got an additional 50kg payload. It sems a bit weird that Prochem recommend any MWB and then say it is not big enough? I have a max carrying weight of 1360kg is this not enough?
I am now worried!

Hi Chris,

Nice setup!

How are you getting on with your new t/m now you've had it a few days?

I've also got a swb vivaro and am considering upgrading to a t/m.

I'm worried about the load/weight capacity, have you noticed any problems?

Kind regards,
Jason.

Timmy

I had the same sort of thing with Prochem. In their catalogue they give the machine dimensions. I go out and buy a lwb Vivaro after checking the dimensions inside of the van, order a tm from them, then they tell me that i can't have a submount tank as the van ain't wide enough due to the waste tank at the back that they don't show in their catalogue or its dimensions so end up with a saddle tank mounted sideways.

I think these people should give the correct dimensions in their catalogues and possibly a cross reference list of machines and vans that they will go in.
