Want a machine for polishing table tops etc... been told makita or flex but no idea which model to buy, whats everyone using model wise and any links would be great.
Also where is the best place to get a full set of grinding and polishing disks resin ones? seen them on amazon but at 24 quid a full set i'm guessing they will be rubbish.

Klindex do a self levelling table top one - only used it briefly on a course but compared to using an angle grinder style machine was walk in the park. Can't remember the name off top of my head - someone will follow up with it I imagine. Waterfire maybe?!

waterfire?

Waterfire or ufo, nearly stuffed up a marble top with a flexi type machine. All about keeping level etc.
Steve Riley showed us the Waterfire on his course.

Bit of practice and i'll be fine with a flex or makita, just want to make sure i buy the right one.

Klindex UFO & Waterfire are definitely the best to use but purchase price means they need to be used and charged for accordingly.
Makita variable speed with built in waterfeed system is good (about £420 + vat) but for the less expensive option machine I recommend the Flex variable speed (about £275 + vat) as a good starter machine and it is really ergonomic and light to use.
That said never compromise on quality diamonds or backing plate as they are the key to achieving results along with plenty of practice which will over time bring skill.

After spending all day grinding and smoothing rough sawn 600x300 sandstone tiles there's no way I would have wanted to be using a hand polisher, I used the ufo and that was hard work so I dread to think what it would have been like using a flex.
