Hi lads
Any ideas and prices on this? Ive done bit of looking and only come across stuff £250+
Is this the going rate for camera at top of gutter plos and monitor at bottom

Quite a few use wifi enabled gopro type cams and a smart phone with the app running that connects via wifi to the cam.
Most popular one seems to be sj4000 wifi that you can pick up from ebay dirt cheap.

Im using the GoXtreme wifi view from argos £99 you will also need a micro sd card.
The camera connects to your smartphone via an app so you can view and record whats in the gutters etc.
Its a great piece of kit and the camera comes with all the attachments to clamp it to a pole ;D

Sj4000 £32 eBay all fixing attachments

Hi Tom, Yeah thats the one!
The sj4000 batteries are terrible and you'll end up replacing them costing more money, Thats why I've spent a little more so I'm not having to constantly leave it on charge.

You just buy spare batteries and a charger and swop them over when needed which is no big deal.
Any wifi action cam you buy including the expensive gopro which I use with wifi enabled they eat battery life.

A small mirrorless camera (or even a cannon powershot) will do the job. Attach it to the end of a pole, basterdising a mini tripod to do this.
Angle it to the correct angle and just press record on video and extend the pole and just video what's inside the gutters.
You don't need 'real time' images of what's in the gutters; just walk around the property filming what's in them.
Then lower the pole and watch the video footage; it'll show you everything you need to know.
It doesn't need to be complicated or expensive.
Using this set up, you can also use the 12 second delay timer and take a great selfie too...

Nice pic Tosh. ;D
My first camera on a pole was a cannon powershot g7. The camera at the time cost about £250 that I used for messing about with aerial mast photography.
When I sold the mast and another cannon camera as a package I kept hold of the g7 as was a good camera for general family use. Anyhow once I started using it for gutter surveys I actually knackered it in no time at all smacking it about on roof tiles , getting it wet etc. I also tried wired bullet cam type systems, chepo baby type wifi monitors etc and they all broke or just packed up after time.
The best thing I've ever bought so far to date was a gopro h3+ with a touch screen bacpac fitted as is waterproof and very robust for the job so can work out in all weather and not worry about getting it wet or smacking it about either.
Can be used it to wiz around the property to record a vid and play it back and/or connect to a smart phone for real time viewing from the ground. Using real time viewing when vacuuming gutters I find saves a whole lot of time and comes in very hand especially on taller buildings when working on your own.
Obviously for safety reasons you don't look at the smart phone screen the whole time but just stop moving the pole and check the section you are working at the time is clear then move on to the next bit.
Those chepo wifi enabled sj4000 cameras would be just as good for what you need them for and they are dirt cheap to buy. Only thing is the screen is smaller so might not be so clear on playing it back directly through the camera. Not a real issue though as you would just enable the wifi and play the vid back through a smart phone instead whilst on site if you wanted to have a look yourself and/or show the customer how bad they are.

Get a grip man you don't want to be showing customers what's in their gutters especially if its a yearly job.

This is an example of a six monthly job I do so yes you do in some cases as the chap askes for before and after pics on each gutter clear. If they should not need clearing I would be honest and tell him but have been clearing the property gutters for a while now and each time they are blocked including the downspouts too. This is what it looks like in late November and in late may is full again with seed pods and twigs from the trees around it.
I don't just rip people off for the sake of it honest guv. ;D

I used to use a sj4000 which was fine but then my brother offered me a go pro hero black cheap which is loads better than the sj.
