yes i pay the missus to cook the books it reduces my tax bill

Pretty much correct. Good if she does some work for others or the Inland Revenue may say she should be employed directly (which is OK as an option) by you instead of being self employed. You can also have a patnership arrangement.

Mrs Gold also does a bit of cleaning in her own right and she also offers accounts advice to Dan the Man and to our daughters who are both self employed.
