Title: New Booster pump needed
Post by: Lakes and Pennine on April 13, 2016, 08:58:59 am
My clarkes booster pump has gone up in a puff of smoke after 7 years. Not looking forward to forking out £300 for a new one. Has anybody got any cheaper options?

83 pence per week seems pretty good value to me?

Sometimes you get what you pay for , it may be wise to get a decent one rather than a cheapo one of it's something you use everyday for hours on end  ;D

obviously there is nothing else worthwhile. yes you get what you pay for and it has flogged on every day for 7 years. Just compounded with needing new clutch in van, so not being a cheapskate, just 2 major repairs at once

Have you looked at other makes of pump as alternatives?

Thats what I was asking Granville. If any of you were using something different and had success. The Clarke pump has been good. But 500 for clutch  3 plus for pump makes clive a dull boy.
I don't want to buy a lemon as that would be a bigger waste.

Check out anglian pumps.
There's some good spec pumps at decent prices.
Ones to look for are minimum 45m head and 100+ litres a minute flow.
Like this one.

Thanks Chriss . I will look at those. I can stumble on with no pump but its very slow and will not be working the ro efficiently. . It might even be a case of a new motor for the clarkl pump, but thats not always cost effective

You sure it's the motor?
After 3 years use my pump started smoking, turned out to be a burnt out capacitor, replaced at a cost of £10 and is as good as new.
