Post by: ascjim on April 11, 2016, 05:55:23 pm
Was speaking to a contract manager today on the phone.

We were talking about render cleaning, he mentioned something called a doss machine for K render?

Not sure if I heard correctly

He probably meant Doff

I seems more popular for some to use Doff type systems on larger cleaning projects using pickers. No chems are required as the superheated water at low psi cleans render etc and kills any algae/lichen growth all at the same time.

Here are a few vids if interested https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=doff+render+cleaning&rls=com.microsoft:en-gb:IE-Address&rlz=1I7DKUK_en&prmd=ivns&source=lnms&tbm=vid&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjWs6-8oIfMAhWEMBoKHRHkA_MQ_AUIBg

There are far better machines out there than the doff. You spend ages descaling them which  they are very prone to do especially in hard water areas. They are no more than a pump and over rated boiler with heat rated hose, gun etc. Softwash would be a better system  for most

It seem to me more to do with what the client stipulates that are fully aware of different systems as some may not want chemicals to be used at all.

Stone health used to have the market cornered http://www.stonehealth.com/

Great if you get the work but I won't let a customer tell me what machine to buy when there are better alternatives. Hot water is hot water no matter what pumped or heated it - 21 ltr boiler heating 3-5 ltrs. they now have a revolutionary recovery system ! A numatic vacuum - whoopee.  Stonehealth used to control the lodge but unless your customer is the national trust why can you not use another machine

I think your customer has had a price from Darran…maybe he did not like the price and he has come to you. Petrol central heating is expensive to run.

Price ? It would be the trail of foreign books all over the place and the smell of bonfires from the jungle

Can I ask what render cleaning machine you use then BDCS?

My very first domestic property K rend clean last week I just used an old pf trolley and wfp to apply algoclear. Must admit the render came up great all be it quite hard work spraying and brushing it in all the same.  I certainly would not want to use that method on a very large, tall building as would be knackering and quite slow method I would imagine.
