Title: How long is yours?
Post by: AuRavelling79 on March 27, 2016, 10:55:45 pm
Hose on your reel that is?

I'm sure most of us run 100m lengths because that is the max length microbore seems to come in and that seems to fit on many reels but do any of us run significantly longer or shorter and if so why?

A friend of mine ran with a 200mtrs for a while. But I think he found it too much effort pulling all that hose out. His round is a lot like mine, difficult to find parking where you're not irritating people. Like me he's found his round is best worked with a trolley. He now uses a 60ltr diy trolley.

130m of microbore on a large claber reel...
Could probably get close to 200m on it if reeled on properly.

The 130m is for a large care home.

50m of microbore or is it minibore? 7mm or 8mm outer diameter. It's the very pliable reinforced hose made by Streamlline

If I can't do the job with that then I don't do it.

100m but have been known to join more than one hose reel together if need be on larger jobs.

I use 60m of microbore.

That's because my cheap 4lpm pump doesn't provide enough flow with 100m.

It's only not been enough on 2-3  occasions
When I just use the trolley instead

What fittings do you use when adding in lengths? John Guest?

I have a standard 100m on the reel, but recently ran 300m to some glass, to join hoses together I use an inline connector, all bits an bobs are from circuit hydralics inc hoses.

I haven't noticed a major change in pressure at the brush wen running far distances, just allow pressure to build up in hoses and then go as normal.

100m microbore.
Just ordered a new one yesterday actually. £65!  :o

To be fair I've had the old one over 7 years. It was peeling pretty bad and I'd chopped so much off due to splits it was probably only 60m-odd  ;D
