Title: Transit custom
Post by: Blackadder on March 13, 2016, 02:56:20 pm
Thinking about investing in a Transit custom, anyone using one at the moment? How are you finding it?
Struggling to fit everything in the Peugeot Partner now, gutter vac, pressure washing gear, I've outgrown it!

My one worry is that a majority of my work is residential and wondering if I'll have much trouble fitting it in to spaces.

Are you serious?

It's a van not a lorry  ;D

I am 95% domestic and never once had a problem with parking.

I have a long wheel base van, it was hard parking in tight spaces to begin with but you get use to it and after a while don't think nothing about squeezing in tight spaces ;D

I know where you are coming from with regards to parking but i went from a combo to a transit custom. It's easier to park custom. Even more so with sensors and a camera  ;D

I have a Transit Custom. I love driving it. I'm as happy driving it as my wife's much more expensive car. I reckon you need something bigger with a gutter =vac though. I'm sure lots of people will tell me I'm wrong though.

Looking back the lwb and maybe the semi high top would have been a better option but i hated the looks of the semi high top.

Ideally i didn't want to drive something i thought was ugly.

I get the gutter vac and all components in the partner but it's a tight squeeze  :)

Hi Harry, glad your happy with your new Custom, I'm thinking of maybe getting one later this year, just wondering what size
Custom you bought plus payload, i have an older T230 lwb connect with 500 litre tank, plus occasionally take out a Skyvac,
but seriously thinking of going for a bigger van.

What sort of price was that setup clever forum name?

Best speak to grippa tank really as at the time the hose reels were about £330 each plus vat, plus i had a few extras.  So you could save a few £ here and there. Looking at about 4-6k depending on size of tank etc.  You could price it up yourself as most prices are on the grippa site.

Its been faultless.

I drive a transit mk7 lwb semi high. Comfort is 100% for me. had a custom swb, stop start. on 7 occasions while doing warranty work.
Fast
easy to drive, like  a car
good size.
BAD POINTS
week springs, bottomed out at 30mph doing round a bend and dip.
Hard seats.
cheap plastic
and the one that shocked me the most BAD mpg. I got 22 mpg. My bigger, older van gets 26. they state 40's. What do you get

I get 500ish mpg from a full tank,  which I'm happy with
A full tank cost me £70
