Title: BP Petrol stations
Post by: julianbiggs on May 17, 2006, 10:22:10 pm
DO any of you guys clean windows at BP petrol stations ? Ive been asked to do one and wondered what  to charge ? It's pretty simple stuff , traditional method low level... no ladders needed ...just about 4  6ft x 4ft windows along the front of the petrol station and then 2 small automatic front doors. You've probably all seen them.. Most BP stations look the same!!!!  What should I charge  They want them doing every two weeks.

if its on your way to a job and they keep the windows 'clear' of logs, papers, sweets etc then £30.00 another £20.00 if you have to move everything.

That job'll take 15 minutes and if it's not out of your way and its paid from petty cash on production of a receipt I'd go at £15. They won't get mucky on a fortnight.

If it's invoiced and out your way, then £25 up.

We clean a few stations and we charge all of them £10 per week. We are always passing them and its 5 mins work. Agreed, don't go moving counters and display syands etc... you may not be covered on your insurance to do that?

If it is only the outside of the windows and access is reasonable, then a tenner per clean would be good money.
These are usually weekly cleans and you will be done and dusted in under ten minutes.
Providing you are paid on completion and you are not having to go miles out of your way then keep your price reasonable.

Actually a tenner is pretty high for that work!
I do what was a petrol station a few years ago, there are no stands in the way admittedly but there are 5 single pane windows (well, one has 2 louvres in it) a single glass door and a long narrow pane to the side of the door.

I charge them £3.50...

I use WFP on it and it takes less than a minute and a half to do.
Even when I was doing it trad it was only taking about 2 and a bit minutes to complete.

with petrol stations and their displays to get over it may take more than 2 mins to clean, and if you can get the tenner for it I mentioned in my last reply you'll be doing good. ;)

i was aksed to price up a car showroom that used to be a garage (thus a similar size), though they had extended it a little

this was inside and out

i priced it up @ 50 quid

some1 else came it at 12 quid

::) ::) needless to say, i didnt get the job, though i got called a few months later to see if i could take over as the other guy only did it twice, he wanted it done at 12 quid

You have my sympathies, I had a muppet price a job at a silly amount and when I quoted I was 3 times dearer. Difference is, I am VAT registered, pay tax, NI, wages and insurance. Guess a pint of beer must be cheaper than that, dole dodgers!! Hate them!!
