Thats a wand stroke ... random blast of hot black rubbery liquid without warning
im putting on the hand tool there to try and get ot off before the owner comes in for a look !
got it out but could be nasty on some things .
Still dont know which hose it was ...or the wand hose itself , ran the water through and continued fine . I should replace my hoses now though :)

so, how long should you use the same solution hoses?? ive used mine for four years now, do you chaps replace them periodically|??

works well , i'd say its the same unit used in the heated powerflites ... but in a box
its basic as in that it has no lights or temp regulation apart from the thermostat that cuts it off at a certain point .
the Ashbys is probably better , lots of features and i think they might wrap a secondary heat ex changer around theirs ( not sure ) but u pay for it .

Happened to me in a very high end clothes shop. Hose burst and sent black water right up a rack of £1600 dresses. Luckily we were locked in so no staff. Cleaned dresses with handtool and dried with airmovers. You couldn't tell.
I would recommend changing hoses every 2 years, they have a hard life.

Plastic high pressure solution hose overcomes the black death syndrome. Has some drawbacks in max temperature and can kink

Happened to me once in a posh house quite a few years ago , went all over a baby grand piano......... the lady of the house was polishing it at the time..... :o
Also all up the walls and over the nice clean carpets.......... I was mortified...... luckily she saw the funny side of it & i got it all cleaned up.
I thought that would be the end of her as a customer but strangely enough shes been a good customer ever since :)
Maybe she doesnt get much drama going on in her life :)
I have found since then just turning the heat down a few degrees makes the hoses last a lot longer, although I still replace them every couple of years and just use the older ones outside.

I'm guessing it affects truck mount owners a lot more.

Hose burst on me 3 weeks ago on the 3 rd floor of a 3 story house.
Black stuff all over a newly painted landing.
Had to pack up and leave as I had no replacement,and went back 2 days later to finish the job.
I did the job for £60 instead of the £130 agreed price due to inconvenience caused.

this has happened to me twice, both times on pure white carpets, its easy to wash out so a bit of a pain but not a disater

I had a burst hose on Sunday while doing an office building. It was everywhere and i was on 2nd floor, it was a mess bu the time i got to the machine.

I have hoses I have used for many years...no problem at all...
My I suggest an alternative...
A build up of undissolved powder used in the clean water tank that has built up in the pump...maybe you have experienced a blow-back
I did suffer from this many year ago...I don't use powders through a machine now....by the way it didn't go up walls etc...it went all over me!

It happens to us all at some stage.. I've had similar situations to the above posts and it brought a smile to my face remembering it. Not funny at the time though.
When it does happen problem solving us the game after the disaster ;D and you then find out how good you really are ;D
I do like John Kelly's post, that's how you solve a problem ;)
