Title: shurflo 8000 help needed

Hi all. Looking for advice please on a shurflo 8000 100psi.
I have outflow connected to an external porf. When the pump is turned off (as in finished for day) water is still running thru pump n trickling out my portal. If I activate pump to create the pressure, it will fix it again. Lol, does that mean the pressure switch needs replacing?? Ive only had it for 8mnths tho. But with power off, I would have thought it cant be this? (But then my knowledge of this is very little)
Any advice please,

Haven't you got a stop end on the port? Could just be the hose reel draining.

Yep, stop connection on, but im guessing theres no pressure so it allows it to trickle out. The inflow is straight from 500litre tank to the filter, then pump and finally to out port. Waiting for hose reel to connect.

Fit a tap?
Simply shut the water off then. If you fit it before the pump then you won't accidentally blow your hoses.

The Shurflo pump has a tiny hair spring which activates a non return valve to stop water being pumped back into the tank when the pump is running. So in effect its a one way valve.

 Its the only thing that stops water from 'leaking' through the pump and out of the van port. The fuller the tank the more it will leak. Both our pumps do this although one is 'worse' than the other.

A stop connector should prevent that from leaking - it did on the second van we assembled.

Our other vans have male hozelok brass connectors. We stop the drips by pushing on a Hozelok hose connector that has the outlet sealed off with silicone.

Ive tried several different types of stop connectors and eventually (only after a couple of weeks tho) it leaks thru again.
I have a tap on my tank, which I switch off. So it must be water from tap/tank that is working its way through the pump.
Think I will try the brass male connector n silicon ideal. Doh, I should have thought ofthat!

TBH son in law had a cheap stop connector from Gardiners. Lasted him 4 years and he never had a drip.

The plastic Hozelok tap connector has now been replaced with a brass one.

You can easily suck water through your hose to the hose reel with your mouth but you can't blow it back. Its the non return valve in the pump that is responsible for this.
