Title: How old?
Post by: Blackadder on February 22, 2016, 06:27:37 pm
I'm 43 and already looking ahead to when it's possible to retire  ;D
How old is the oldest WFP'er that you know?
Or the oldest that posts on here?
Just wondering, if staying fairly trim and fit, how long you can go on for?

Oldest one I know is Franky - should have retired ten years ago.

My dad hits 65 on Thursday.

He is genuinely excited to be able to work until he's 70 (hes wfp) Will be part time though.

He doesn't need to work but he is happy he can. I think its a mindset. When you hit retirement age 60-70 it's kinda like your final years i guess.

I am 54 this year, and have no intention of retiring when or if I live that long, or I am fit enough to keep going. I will probably aim to cut down to 2-3 days a week though.

WFP hasn't been generally used longer than say...10 years at a push. So even a 70 year old guy working now on WFP will in all probability not been doing it longer than 10 years. You've a good deal longer than 10 years to go doing it, plus what you already done. Your neck and joints will be knackered by then  ;D  Instead of saving for a pension, buy some work /health related insurance  ;D ;D

I guess then that in moderation, you can do this until either

B, they put you in a box

I'm 34 and look a lot younger than my brother who is 38.

My Dad did it trad until he was 72 and he had the most ridiculously heavy ladder I've ever used. He's shoulders are wider than my van though!  ;D

Well the good news is that we are now living longer....

Assuming I'm still fit enough I'll be happy to work into my 60s & 70s (although it may be part-time). I'd much rather work than sit watching the TV all day (with subtitles on), like some of my customers do.

I am 34 , been window cleaning  for 18 years this summer , been wfp for about 10 years .... I feel wrecked some days and I keep myself active by playing football and running etc .... But the thought of my shoulders , neck and back still trying to strain over a conny roof to reach that awkward window at 70 years of age ... Depresses me lol
