Title: Rubbish window frames
Post by: Dave Willis on February 22, 2016, 05:17:49 pm
Any window fitters on here?
Surely the frames are supposed to be sealed to the brickwork? Loads of new builds have these crap frames with a gap between the cover strip and brickwork. Squirted right through a few today and not for the fist time the carpets were treated to Vision.

Haha , I bet the owner was stood there washing up when all of a sudden you squirted them in the face 😆😆😆
On a more serious note.... Are you saying water gets in?

Yes, it's actually the crack between the top of the frame and the vents if you see what I mean. Crap design.
Water streams down the inside of the glass.

I would say whichever firm fitted those windows could not be arsed to use sealent which they should have done.

Surely if you know it is going to leak because of lack of sealant then best you don't go squirting water in to that area or into vents obviously. Instead I've found best practice is to turn the water off and just brush over the area or use a damp microfiber cloth instead.

Seems to be the norm now across the country. I thought new builds where inspected ? No idea how they get away with it.

That's shocking, wouldn't like to see what happens when it's gets icy / heavy rain & windy , surely they should filled it with expanding foam at least?!
