Hi Folks
Got a call to clean a big building after it was powerwashed (between each floor is stone/marble )
However when we went to do Windows it's covered with a film of dirt & the brush head removed 60% but left brush strokes on glass ! I got up and manually cleaned it even with a scraper still it took ages to do 1 pane....any suggestions ? Has this happen to anyone before ??

Could it be a mix of lime scale and dirt? Had this a few times when customers jet wash drives or patios using tap water and don't shield patio doors. Dried lime scale can be difficult to remove and may require lime scale remover of some sort applied to it.

Cheers M & C...yes I think this may be the issue as it was powerwashed then side of building was in sun for couple of days but with a scraper it's still near impossible to get a good result.....prob is I have about 800 Windows to do ::)roll
Any suggestions anyone ? (Pls don't say vision)

Tell the "facilities manager" that you cannot do them at the price. Explain why. Be prepared to walk away.

I would Granville but we have cherry picker out & we started doing a good bit for this company...
I was thinking of cleaning windows with some limescale remover & then going back and reclean ? But still cleaning twice minimum :(

There's a chemical am using on a glass roof, i started off with virosol and it didn't do enough, now using there hd cleaner ( it's blue coloured ) which is doing he job, supplier is ics and am sure there nation wide so would be one local to you
if you got a cherry picker, just put a bottle into a bucket and scrub straight on, water coming out of brush will dilute, but were we have really bad glass I have pre wet and brushed it with a dry brush to work chemical into glass,
Best to ask supplier if it will leave marks on the building were it runs down

Is this removing lime scale build up ? or just good for heavily soiled glass
Darran

For me just really heavily soiled glass, I was thinking if it's lime scale, it may not touch it, I tried toilet cleaner in liquid form recently on some glass that had lime scale, took the surface off but left stain behind

Thats very helpful Matty but can you please explain more about VAT, business and how to grow please otherwise this forum is just pants.
Just joking LOL.
-
Look at me thinking am mad up at this time
Vat is 20% and it's a bloody nightmare
Business is all the sh!t that happens everyday during the rat race
Growth comes from the tablets the doctor gives me prescriptions for ;D
It's pretty simple really, there's nothing to it

I'd be a bit worried it doesn't mention anything about being suitable for glass cleaning.

This method should help maybe? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KpIZaE3T5A

The guy in the shop says same rules apply as using virosol, don't let it dry on the glass.
There has been days this week and last that we have had to stop start due to wind, chemical is applied in sections upto 20 windows along 6 down so a biggish area, the chemical had dried in completely needing to be reapplied, when cleaned off it's not left any staining, as were the sections that we used virosol on did leave some small stains behind after it had been allowed to dry .......
Dilution rate for virosol say 1/250
Dilution rate for this hd degreaser 1/1200
If you go on the general cleaning ( jet washing ) Chris Scott did a job were he removed all lead staining and lime scale off glass conservatory/ building of some type, there's a pic somewhere in the archives. It maybe worth asking him what he used.
U may have to apply it by hand to get best results

No but I want to try some but as per usual can't seem to find a uk supplier which does my head in ::)roll
The other option is Winsol Crystal Clear 550 but to be honest don't look so good as OneRestore
-
@ Matty - yes I remember those pictures, I also remember that Chris decided it was better that some information was best kept to a select few of one
@ smurf - totally agree, had winsol, can remove some limescale, but only very light marks IME - I might try emailing them direct, see if I can get some shipped over

If h-man thinks OneRestore is good stuff then it must be good.
I was also amazed how quick h-man can restore glass using it too unlike other so say products out there which can takes ages and a lot of elbow grease to get the same sort of results.

Hi Guys, we carry a product that will remove these stains, its actually a metal cleaner for removing corrosion and acid staining from stainless steel but is excellent for removing heavy mineral staining from glass surfaces, there is a knack to using it as you need to be quick to achieve best results, for any guys who carry out this type of restoration work on glass you can call me on 00353 87 9406650 or email info@jskcleaning.ie and i will be happy to share more info.
