ive been using a streamline pumpbox for over 2 years now with no problems (with a digital controller fitted).
anyway last job of the day i go to turn the pump on and .........nothing..........checked and double checked all bullet connectors on the wiring.all seems fine.battery crocodile clips and electrical spades ok.still nothing..no display...nothing. ::)roll
it was frustrating as i didnt have my backpack with me today as back up to do the job(its too dangerous to clean off ladders).
so ive ordered another pumpbox(water genie) with a lucas leisure battery (as i could do with another battery to leave on charge in the day).£300 including VAT and delivery.
i want to get this pumpbox fixed so i have a back up system but where can i send it or get it fixed?i dont have a clue how to fix it myself.its easier to just buy another one.
i have loads of work due so ill just have to use my backpack on a trolley with 30m of pole hose for now until my new pumpbox arrives.

take a look at the fuse holder i beat its rusted up

nope.no rust on fuse holder either.

I'll be very suprised if a controller just went bang and didn't work for no reason. They just don't wear out. Bullet connectors and crocodile clips in my experience about the worst electrical connectors you can get.
Take a feed off the battery and connect up as close as you can to the controller box and see if it works ?

They're very good, but they may be overkill for you ? I've used these lots before, they use them for lorry tailift connections . The cables that go in them are really thick.

But to connect the electric cable to that i now use a correctly soldered eye. And any other joins are soldered and shrink tubed.

Would you not of just by-passed controller straight to battery to get your last job done?
A controller went on me about year and a half ago it was one bought on ebay 2nd hand, when it went i just used pump and tbh i done that for about 4 months always forgetting to order a controller and worked no diff, still using same pump, made me question was the controller really needed in the first place

i'm mainly using them for my charger and to the battery. i'll have one connected to the controller wires and one on the battery so i can quickly disconnect the battery to charge it up without having to take it out the van, will only be now and again as i use a split charge relay. also got the connector inserts for 6mm wire so i can solder the wire in.

how does that happen then dave without BAT flashing first and a drop in flow rate before that actually happens?the pump had been working fine beforehand and the battery was fully charged before work this morning.

If so it could be the wires breaking down , i get the same now and then , should replace the wires really but cant be arsed !
What i do is keep my finger pressing the on button and work my way up each wire bending it , sooner or later you get the break point and the control comes on , works for me so give it a go , just remember where the break is for the next time !

No idea - I just made it up.
My guess would be a poor bullet connector first or melted fuseholder or blown fuse. Might be worth taking the fuse out pop another in. Start with the cheapest solutions first then work your way up. New controller is only an hours income after all.

yeah thats the one mate!good idea!never thought of doing that!ive got new one on order now so ill have 2 pumpboxes. ;D

just tried that mate.still no joy.i think ill buy some new bullet connectors and crocodile clips and see if that does the trick. :)

Idealy you need a proper crimping tool not the namby pamby ones but a big electrician's one. Even then the crimp can work loose. I've ditched all mine and use screw blocks wrapped in insulating tape now.

Just to add to what Dave said , i put an inline fuse in , blue pushfit 10 amp halfords jobbie , they can melt and lose connection too , even if they look right they might not be .

After a series of small niggles with the franchisees, I'm planning a couple of days next week armed with a soldering iron to make sure all electrical connections are sound. Crimp-on fittings should be banned.
I'm with Dave in one respect; If I'm in doubt about a connection we all have these in the van - they are a pretty much guaranteed way of connecting two wires.

cheers vin!just ordered one.(i have a screwfix just down the road from me).hopefully ill be able to get it up and running today as i dont fancy working from a backpack all day with cold water if i can help it! ;D

Yes I use Terminal Block connectors and have done for some time.
Although after time connections do still become compromised due I think to the low quality copper used in much of the cables these days becoming brittle.
The best method is soldering and shrink tubing over the soldered connections, one day when I can be ar$ed I will get round to doing it.

i have a brand new pumpbox on its way but its good to have a spare.
