I also had a very good January. ( compared to last year) It has definately slowed up in Feb for me.

I found Jan,Feb and Mar 2015 very slow. Then it all kicked off, right through until Jan 2016.

The signs were showing for a slow start to Feb as enquires started to dry up. Things are starting to look better from next week.

Often found this myself.

Whilst no scientific answer I've wondered wether it's a combination of any/all the following:

Often half-term falls during February and I've mostly found you get a small drop in the phone ringing especially in half-term weeks
People still recovering from Christmas bills/wanting a breather from paying out big(ish) bills of a discretionary timing
People paying off Christmas in January and then being hit by a quarterly gas/elec bill in February.

I think its a mixture of things,

Anyone wanting carpets cleaned have them done for Xmas.

Money in short supply after Xmas

A mindset thing that Spring will be here in 2 months and the weather will be better with no possible snow and slush to spoil newly cleaned carpets.

Steven Butler

this can be put down to the big push we all do before xmas.  buying anything can be as long as years and as short as seconds. depending on what is being bought. if someone is doing some diy this takes organisation, time off work etc so these people have more time to make choices. A hit on your site today might not become a sale for weeks. you must see in your stats people coming and going all the time. puts a smile on my face and I think Just make up your mind will you -)

After a couple of quiet weeks things have picked up. Must be down to time of year.

I'm not as busy but more profitable now. Best thing about a massive price increase is you don't worry when you're not busy.

I'm the same as last year , but I don't see being quiet as a negative , you can see it as a opportunity to

Do advertising
Training  , I did a udemy course this week
Machine maintenance
Web site maintained
As Shaun said a bit of r&r
Expand into other areas
I personally think there is tons of work out there if your marketing is working at full pace .

February has always been my quietest month. (But then one of the 12 has to be) Don't tend to worry about it now. As others have said it is a chance to get some other things done that you haven't had time for before.

I think  that carpet cleaning in the uk is on its arse I wouldn't like to rely on carpet cleaning as my only source of income.

Strange comment.

Its hard physical work but if you can handle that and..... have half a brain, a bit of marketing, do a good job, keep in touch with customers and charge the right money... then you can make a very good living even after just three years.  £100k + turnover is very possible even for one man bands. That's not very on its arse if you ask me.

Location helps but still its one of the most simplest ways to make money and a high profit.  Put it this was, I'd rather be cozy indoors extracting a carpet than freezing my nads outside, up a ladder, cleaning a window for a tenner or what ever it is.

:D

i tend to measure my business on a year by year basis, ie if im doing better than last year im generally happy!
im not spending any more on marketing over the same period so any growth is good for me. january was better
than last year by a country mile, regarding February, ive had the last week off on holiday so its a short month,
i now need to do £300 before the end of feb to beat last year............  so i rather suspect it will be a  a  good result this month.
Did go a bit quiet at the beginning of feb, but looking good now......... my wife and i have come to the conclusion that
February is the month for  a week abroad without too much impact on the business........   looking at booking
another holiday for half term in feb next year.....

I've just dropped two days from my full time job to do more days carpet cleaning but it looks like feb was the wrong month to do so. I've got work dribbling in after a busy January hopefully things will pick up in March and the coming months.
