Title: Text message at 3AM this morning!!!!
Post by: Dave Willis on January 21, 2016, 09:40:08 pm
"Hi really bad night so won't be about in the morning back gate is open I'll pay on line."

What about my bad night then - getting woken up by a text going off?

I don't take my phone to bed. I guess they don't expect you to.

I've got quite hours set up on my phone from 2200-0830.
I've had a few late texts from all sorts.

Quiet hours? Is that a setting or do you just flick the silent button on at bed time?

It's a setting on the phone (Windows) another useful feature is easily blocking phone numbers, think I've got around 30-40 on block and the majority is probably Yell.com :)

I phones let you set silent hours so texts and phone calls don't disturb you unless you set close personal numbers you choose  to override this setting. Very useful feature as it's a PITA with nuisance calls.

I turn mine off at night.

I don't want anything that emits microwaves anywhere near me any more than the bare minimum needed.

Set cleaner planner to text them from 02.30 am. Make sure your phone is off. Set CP to text them repeatedly every half hour.

That sounds like a great feature.  I tend to switch mine off and unplug the landline before bed - unless I forget.  However, some people might have the potential for a family emergency so that's where the feature comes in.  Good idea.

i started putting my phone on silent overnight  years ago and never got out of the habit.

i ran a AA meeting for 6 years and worked a lot with alcoholics in those days who were trying to stop.i used to get quite a few late night phone calls off drunks absolutely off their heads, some of them very abusive!i decided i wouldnt  put up with them.sometimes id play their voicemails back to them when they were sober! ;D

it can wear you down trying to work with alcoholics who keep going on binges. :(

 ;D ;D ;D

Seriously though, when I worked for Reg Vardy, the security guard regularly took messages from people who phoned at 1 or 2 in the morning.
Whilst the majority were drunks trying to be funny, the others were genuine and did become sales or service customers. The sales guys were always ready to give the messages a go as it was easy to find the genuine enquiries. Many of these genuine callers were shift workers and had seen an advert whilst on a break, albeit in the middle of the night.
