Title: nearly set my van on fire last friday morning!

van wouldnt start friday morning.figured it was the starter motor.wires smoking hot,sparks and pops.got in my car and just as i was going round the corner to the garage i glanced back at my van and white smoke was coming from under the bonnet! :o

i quickly disconnected the battery terminals and threw some water on the engine!PHEW!THAT WAS CLOSE! :(

my dad came round in his van next day and helped me bump start the van to the garage.all sorted now but not happy really as i only had a new starter motor fitted just over a year ago!

the starter was still engaging slightly even without key in ignition AND RED HOT!WTF?

i count myself very lucky or it could of been boom time(i had a full 13kg gas bottle in the back)

Dont suppose your insurance company would have paid out to rebuild the street either. I'm seriously thinking of taking my heater out. I don't  think they are worth the risk.

Have you got stickers on your van Daz indicating it contains flammable liquid?

yeah matt (3 LPG stickers)both sides and back doors
