All frozen here. I normally whack heaters in the vans in the morning about 6:30 and that sorts it, but we've overskept. Have told my worker not to rush over. The real problem is that the auto fill static is fed from a pipe running outside the house and it's frozen, so unless we get a thaw today we may have a problem. Tomorrow.

Happened to me yesterday 8 weekly.
Just pour warm water on the hose or use a Hairdryer to warm it up.

Pretty normal that for this time of year up here!!
-
Il go MacDonald's, sit in the van with the heater up full blast, read the paper and stuff my face hole for 45 mins. Usually does the trick.

Yep, will do that if the temperature rise doesn't sort it later today. Bith vans are full so we're good to go - once the vans are deiced!
-
Morning chaps. Going by the wifi weather monitor in the back garden it's -6.3 at the mo.

MacDonald's is great for keeping the bowl movements regular!
Double sausage egg mcmuffin in the morning =
Muddy puddle in the toilet in the evening!
-
-5 here an hour ago but after putting heater in van for an hour I'm ready to go out now for another full day! Weather forecast looks better for tomorrow with higher temps!
-
Why not put the heater on a timer to come on first thing or thru the night. I run mine for 15 mins every 2 hours seems to work
-
Now it's -1.9 and temp is rising but still no good for trying to clear frozen crap from gutters using a guttervac though.
Oh the joys of offering a guttervac service can be a real pain in the arse sometimes in low winter temps.

I guess if you eat crap that would do that. ;D

My car was dropped off at the mechanics last night so had the van at mine instead of inside the unit. Didn't put heater in and everything frozen solid this morning! Thawed out by 1 but would actually muck up the schedule so the guy who works for me will work next Saturday so its ok, work gets done and he doesn't lose money.
I remember the days I would stress like mad if I lost a day.. Its good when you've built up a solid customer base that you know the odd day lost here and there doesn't effect you. And it sure beats working in an office! And its supposed to be a lot warmer from tomorrow down South then up to 13 from next Monday! Back to shorts soon - should gain a few customers ;D

yeah i agree mate.im sacking the rest of this week off though.no way im going to be 100% til sat/sun. ::)roll
-
Blimey that was a sharp one!
Had a tube heater in the van overnight under my Fogwash and next to the pump. Trouble was all the pole hoses and taps froze up, even the reel which was under a duvet. Got some work done ten the pole hose split and sprayed me up my backside, then pole tap fell apart ::)roll
One of them days.
-
It's been a nightmare of a day today...managed to get a few done though.
-
Minus four here at 9am.
I had 400L on board and immersion on from 5pm til 11pm last night then 7.30 til 9 am today.
Started first job at 9.30 am. Lovely and sunny round the back, no probs with ice. Round the fronts a bit of ice on glass on the porch doors which warmed up with the tepid water. Cills still icy.
Brushed away the water from doorsteps by front doors and tradded one porch door to avoid loads of water on the ground and shook a bit of dishwasher salt down but no need after about noon. Lovely day - thermals, thinsulate hat, gloves and supple hoses.
Lunchtime - sat in the van with heater on drinking hot veg soup from a flask with cheese rolls. Yum! Thanks Mrs. Gold - and a flask of coffee/hotchoc mix and a packet of hobnobs to keep me going.
A bit slower because of salting and brushing but the nights are drawing out and all got finished by 4.00 pm.
-
Started when it was -2 and finished on 7c
Haven't lost any time due to weather. I spent ages making a heated insulated RO/DI box and blanket/rad setup.
Only issue we had was older transit wouldn't start. Quick 5 min charge and she started up just fine.
-
Immersion on 2am to 7am. Van all toasty and ready to go first thing, nothing frozen due to 500ltr radiator in van. In fact, had a bit of steam at the brush today!! ;D
-
At times it was laughable this morning with the hot water there was so much steam coming from the brush it looked like it was on fire lol
-
Oh diddums it sounds like the southern fairies didn't know how to handle a bit of cold weather . ;D

One of the other lads forgot to put his heater in the van though. Didn't get working till 1pm ::)roll

It doesn't matter how much you charge . It's still not enough compensation for living south of Yorkshire . :)

Full day done here. Was 2 degrees at 6:45am here in Cheshire. Are you lot with the sub zero temps down south?

Started 9.05, £300 conny roof done by 9.15, hit vat limit by 9.30, spent 9.30 to 10.00 worrying if I'll lose any of my council houses as a consequence, hit a personal record by 10.30, went home at 11.00 having earned my normal full annual turnover. It is CIU after all.
