Title: best solvent for cleaning off sealant from glass.
Post by: JSMC on January 18, 2016, 08:50:05 pm: one of my jobs has had someone go mental with sealant and guess what it is all over glass. Normally a nice soap up n clean blade removes but not this time >:(

what is best solvent you all use for cleaning it off. Normally a decent glazier would clean as he goes but not this chap.

also what are folks using now for water marks / mineral deposits? Years back i had MDR but thought it was poor.

A good combination Number 23, also a damp Magic eraser pad sprinkle some fine table salt onto it works well for removing sealant from glass.

Post by: rosskesava on January 19, 2016, 01:46:22 am: In my experience, there is nothing that cleans sealant off glass without a lot of sweat. A scraper is the best bet and even then, it's a lot of work.

Once cured, even solvent cleaner doesn't get it off.

Forget any type of cleaner (sorry Tadgh), it won't touch it.

For water marks, try a patio cleaner but wear rubber gloves and rinse with plenty of water.

That would be my line or more likely you'll need to get the glazier back. I doubt I'd touch it.

Post by: Micky Barber on January 19, 2016, 02:30:53 pm: I've never used it but Oil Flo is supposed to get anything off, been told it gets egg off so if that's true it'll get anything off? You'll need to charge the customer though it aint cheap.
