So, i've seen a few topics and posts in the last few weeks on here of people saying that WFP is basically Rubbish and does a bad job and that trad is better.
Someone please help me out here, i personally think WFP is great. Aslong as you clean and rinse the frame then the glass i nearly always get a perfect streak free spot free finish. I keep hearing that cleaning with WFP with direct sunlight shining on the glass makes the windows not look very good when they are dry. Can somebody explain this to me, i've never experienced this and don't understand why using WFP in direct sunlight would make any difference aslong as the water is pure when rinsed after cleaning surely the finish should logically be the same?
Remember i am still fairly new to WFP so not all that experienced :P

I don't know about wfp window cleaning being rubbish. But what I do know is some ppl chat a load of rubbish.
Just carry on wf poling and you will be fine. Don't let anyone put you off fella
-
I just checked and this thread wasn't started in 2006 like I thought it might have been.
-
Unless you go into all of your customers houses in a south facing room in the afternoon, you'll never know if you nearly always get a perfect finish until they have dried and your looking out of the window
-
it's not wfp that's rubbish, it's Dave Willis.
-
No, some operators are rubbish!
Watched one yesterday doing an upstairs bay with 5 reveals.
Then he started immediately on the bay below.
Instead of starting on the lower bay with the reveal below the upper one he did first, he started on the one directly below the last one he'd just finished, with all the water still cascading and running down the wall onto the window he was cleaning.
There is no way that water had finished running down by the time he had cleaned the lower window and moved on.

So yet another boring thread started about WFP being rubbish, I've been WFP now getting on 4 years this year, i find if
you WFP windows PROPERLY, taking time to clean them PROPERLY, and " RINSING them PROPERLY" you can get amazing
results, i still Trad, but only insides when requested.
So for all the WFPolers who moan & groan about WFP being crap & rubbish, here is the solution sell your WFP systems and
go back 100% Trad, ladders an all, problem sorted end of.
-
I've found using cold pure wfp don't cut it on some jobs but hot pure water & vision x works great for me ;D
-
Yaa WFP is rubbish I disagree. So cars are rubbish and jet planes are rubbish. Most people who rubbish WFP just cannot afford to buy a system. Many and not prepared to save up their earning and have a reduce income to buy a good system. Don`t listen to the fools who spout b/s all day long.
-
Oh and I forgot to mention trad does a better job on insides at least as custys get the hump using wfp indoors ;D

Listen to your customers mate when they start telling you its rubbish then its time to worry, there are a few guys on here
who don't know the difference between cleaning a window and restoring it, direct sunlight just shows up more of the flaws
on the glass that have nothing to do with our job.
-
The knack is rinsing.

Cheers Sean , at least I know I'm not rubbish anymore ;D

Yes. It would have been 1 hour tops if not for the bad weather.
-
Back on topic YES wfp is rubbish but so is trad as windows keep getting dirty again. Thank goodness or we would be all out of a job ;D
To be honest who cares really as long as customers are kept happy and more importantly pay on time 8)

..................... and a free roof clean. ;)

Granville Gold.
So 2006 was the year everyone had an opinion!?
Everyone has an opinion Tone, they're like farts - everyone likes their own.
But 2006 was probably the year that the vast majority on this forum realised the financial and safety benefits and became WFP users. So to ask about whether WFP is the right way to go ten years later is like asking whether the railways should give up diesel and electric for steam.

If you wanted to get a job 99-100% perfect a job you spend an hour on WFP would take hours by hand,it does a good enough job for me I have next to no complaints week in week out. It has been a revelation for me you can get through so much more work speed wise you can't compare it to traditional,an hour trad works out about 15-20 minutes WFP 2 hours trad 45 minutes WFP roughly to me it's a no brainer. 5 years time seeing a fully traditional Window cleaner ladder and bucket only will be like watching jockeys at the grand national riding unicorns ie slim chance. You could almost say that WFP and traditional window cleaning are like different jobs ok we are both looking to clean a window but the way we are doing it are completely different. All I know is at the end of the week or day I've still got energy to do other things.

Summed it up completely, good post NWH

Thanks for clearing all that up for me! I have never had a WFP complaint yet due to me cleaning them poorly or them not doing a proper job, so i will just always listen to the majority of my customers, not the fussy ones though obv.
Just thought i would bring it up in topic, because when somebody mentioned that Pure water when used in direct sunlight dries differently, i started to question the whole process as it didn't make sense to me! I know that direct sunlight shows up all marks on the glass looking from the inside, but i was just checking that cleaning with WFP doesn't do a worse job if used in direct sunlight, i'll remember next time, that there are lots of people on here that do complain and can't tell the difference between their brush or squeegee!

The best solution to this is only clean when it's raining :)

Granville we would be better off if we went back to steam more dirty windows would stop rail companies blaming overhead power line failure and burn all the illegals to make steam that would stop them wanting to come over here
