I have never used that type, but I would recommend the extra spend and get carbon fibre poles.. I use carbon, and they can even strain your arms after a long day at it.

And ...what do you think of those aluminium poles & head assembly bungle?
Reason why I'm asking they look really heavy to use especially over awkward stuff (acute angles) and above 2 storey to me.

Don't bother with ally poles they're too heavy...

Grippavac is a good system at a reasonable  price...had mine for well over a year now and it's never failed on any jobs I've done ;)

first off the hose for the hover isn't long enough so you can,nt  do a full side of a house without dragging the vac along by the pipe while the poles are in the air , unless you want to keep putting the pole down and moveing the whole thing along

we used it three times and the hoover piep is so thin its spilt in four places

we have replaced this with 2inc truckmounted carpet cleaning pipe

the cam at the end of the gutter pole keeps falling out of the sockit and hitting the floor as it just on a push fit clip not a looked in type

third time out the screen  moniter as died this as yet to go back

Funny you mentioned the truckmount hose as I'm still waiting for someone in the UK to produce the first roots type blower guttervac truckmount.

I have used my truckmount to clean my gutters out it didn't go well

due to the blower being so power full it just locked on the  gutter and didn't go anywhere you could move it , had to turn the truck off so it would let go , I thought it might do that but just had to try it for laffs

So just goes to show it works rather well then Susan...The idea is not to get it directly sucking onto the inside of the gutter or you have no hope of getting it off without switching the system off as the suction is so powerful as you found out   ;D

thing is with blowers they just keep powering up until they cant go any faster bit like vac motors but much better , if you had a way of sideing say a trap door on the pole down so air could be sucked at at the bottom when it gets stuck it could work well cooling would be a problem for none water ran engines then again why not spay them clean like you do with carpets ? spay and suck

Sorry it's my new meds folks.

Anyhow seriously a petrol or diesel type van mount roots blower set up with a variable bar pressure & temperature controlled sprayer (capable of producing steam when required) all in one system does sound awesome to me.

Not suprised....I think this vid says it all really
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KxrFl9Ijdc

That video is awesome 😂😂😂

Haha awesome video shame it's 3 years OUT OF DATE!! Mind you in his other videos he's not too complementary about the Flowmix system either!!  We had a Die made at an aluminium mill in December 2012 so since January 2013 our aluminium poles have been 25% lighter than those ones and weigh the same as Omni Metal poles. Now our 100% carbon fibre poles made by us so we can guarantee 100% carbon fibre (it's amazing how many manufacturers sneak in some fibreglass/e-glass to keep their costs down!!) weigh 385 grams for a 1.7 metre pole it's just advancement and keeping up with the times, and keeping the price way down!!

Mind you he forgot to mention the weight or put a link to that video  when he sold the kit on Ebay  for more than he paid us!! Not bad eh!!

I decided to go with 60 % (carbon) 40 % fibreglass hybrid poles myself at 450 grams per 2m section rather than going for slightly lighter 100% carbon. Reasons being they seem more ridged and stronger being a hybrid mix. I've not had one snap on me yet unlike others have mentioned using 100% carbon poles. Each to their own and all that.

Hello Smurf,

You will find they actually weigh 580+ grams. That is why we decided to make them ourselves.
As of next week we are making our head and tools with carbon fibre. We will  use a small amount of aluminium and plastic parts but the weight reduction is dramatic, making them far easier to use.

Post by: Smurf on January 04, 2016, 02:29:09 pm
Nick, my mistake they are indeed around 580 grams per section not 450 on their stock tapered 50 OD x 2m pole sections.
Anyhow all the same I've found them to be cheap, very strong, ridged and easy to use so am very happy using them even on taller work no probs.

I also think price, weight vs longevity is a trade off so would not go for the lightest guttervac poles myself as would want them to last and not break on me. Not to mention there is a higher risk of electrocution using 100% carbon poles on their own.

I'm sure you will disagree but I think 60-40 hybrid poles are better suited for gutter clearing work than using 100% carbon poles myself.

Just a word of warning to everybody using these hybrid poles.
A mix does not mean that the cloth is a mix of carbon and fibreglass, it means a layer of fibreglass and a layer of carbon fibre.
With an outside layer of carbon fibre which these have, you have no protection from electric cables, so keep an eye out for cables.

Just gaffer tap  the splits like I do Rah. Mind you my old patched up omni hose is so bad it don't bend very much now  ;D
I can't really grumble though as my omni hose has lasted years. I also cut it in half shortly after getting it so used 7.5m instead of 15m as found it kept getting blocked up too quick on bends with sludge being a longer run and all.
