I'm getting back into window cleaning after a break because of health issues and looking forward to it.
It would be great if I could get some opinions on the best van to get.
I've got a budget of between £1,500-£2,000 and looking for a smallish one.

Citroen dispatch or the pug expert ( same thing ) get a cracking van for that (54 to 57 plate) will take 500 litres on non turbo 600 turbo version room for 2 men if need be and still room to squeeze in a gutter vac if required.
Our non turbo recently went to Aberdeen and back (something like 800 miles) on less than £70 of diesel

I have a 2004 Vauxhall Combo 2000 - 785kg payload - good for a 350L tank (NB: don't go for the 1700 since the payload is less). I've had the van for nearly a year now and no problems to speak of. You should be able to pick up one of these on your budget.

Dispatch/expert with 2.0 hdi engine
Pulls like a train, lovely drive, can put a 600 litre tank in there and has two side loading doors.
I started with the mark 1 now I have a mark two which I bought nearly 4 years ago.

I have had a Doblo 1.3 multijet from new on a 2006/56 plate. 735kg payload with a 400L tank and one up it is excellent. I sold it to Dan the Man 18 months ago and it is still going strong. On less than 50,000 miles at the moment.
Can't fault it. We even use it to pull a trailer with our guttervac stuff too.
Other side points that are a plus. (only applies to the 1.3 - the 1.9 is heavier and more expensive on tax.)
If you get an 2006 '06/56 plate it comes in at Euro 4 road tax which is about £135.00 but a 2007 onwards is higher.
It's gross vehicle weight is exactly 2000kg and so you can drive it at "car-derived" van speeds the same as a car on Dual/Single carriageways. Again, this will not apply to the 1.9 version which is heavier.

I have had all the said vans, and now have a 2008 Doblo 1.3 van, It's set up for two man 400lt tank and is perfect, mine I got for £1,200 cash and is in perfect condition 55,000 miles it will get you well over 50 miles to the gallon even in town

the chains on them r not very good ive hurd lots snap at low milege

Haha - yes the number of the beast. Mine has about 85,000 on the clock so hopefully I'm OK .... ;D

Mate of mine has a vauxhall combo, has seats in the back with a 350 delivery set up in it, says he's looking for around 800-900 mark

Mine was a 2007 model, the "facelift" version of the original.

i may try one next time ill try the 2.0hdi the taxi drivers seem to rate them highly

with that small amount its simple any small van that got the lowest miles on , the least owners , and the thickest history you can find with the van !
any van that's not been looked after will end up costing the earth to keep going what ever make it is so buy wise

I have a white 52 plate Dispatch, 65k ish (it's raining out, I'm not going to look :) ) Roller bar roofrack. Has a bash on one front wing and odd marks that come with its age, very good otherwise. Going through mot a week Monday. I have everything to kit it out with (can put it back in if interested)...450l quality tank with frame, quality pump, controller, battery, hose reel and 80m hose, 22ft slx with plenty of life, gutter sprayer pole, backpack and loads of spares i.e. spare pump and controller etc. There is other stuff too but can't remember without looking.
I am a long way from you (Scarborough) but it might be worth a trip for you to get everything you need at once. 07900 175355
