Let's see if we can create a top 10. Everyone put down a few suggestions and I will create a poll to see if we can find the top 10. It can be anything you consider to be a mistake.
if we try and keep it to a set area like 'technical' then if it is popular we could try doing a top 10 business mistakes or top 10 web/internet mistakes.
So here's a few suggestions....
Not using hot water
Not using enough prespray
Not allowing enough dwell time
Any others?
-
I 'll chuck a few in for starters, not sure if this is what you are looking for as there are so many . ;)
Not qualifying the work with the customer
Using too much water (over wetting)
Lack of knowledge on types and makes of carpets and soft furnishings
Not enough 'on the job' training
In-correct use of spotters
-
Not managing the expectations of the customer.......
-
Thinking they can become a carpets cleaner by investing a £500 on a cheap machine of ebay.
-
Some good suggestions, I will pick out the technical ones and save the others for the next topic of top 10
So we have....
1)Using too much water
2)Incorrect use of spotters
3)Not enough pre-spray
4)Not using hot water
Once we get 10 I will start a poll

Not using the correct level of PSI for job in hand
Damage to skirting 's ,stair rails etc from wand and hoses

Not dressed appropriately ie uniform
Arriving in dirty vehicle
Untidy rear of van
Equipment not serviced
Incorrect use of tools for job in hand
Wrong tool for job in hand especially on upholstery
Rubbing of pile on spot removal (burst pile)
-
5) bad wanding technique
6) incorrect level or aggatation ( too. Much, too little)
7) thinking a re-clean will cure an odour problem
8)carelessly damaging customer property with equipment
Hilton lots of good ones but I've already used 3 of yours so will give overs a chance to to give some.
Need 2 more or maybe 4 then pick the top 10 from them

Disagree with the uniform bit and the dirty van.
As long as your dressed appropriately what difference does it make...it 'aint a fashion show.
This weather can't keep van clean for more than a day.
-
hoses going up stairs over bannisters and not being fixed properly, causing marking/damage to bannisters..............
struggling upstairs with a portable and damaging plaster/wallpaper.......................
trying to remove stains pre training and rubbing carpet causing damage..............
trying to book too much work in and arriving late for a booking.............
knocking over bucket of liquid whilst working on an upholstery clean.............
leaving equipment behind after a job..............
forgetting to put a bonnet on to a machine prior to commencing bonneting........
forgetting to remove cover from a sebo duo prior to agitating.........
-
Not hoovering before wetting the carpet.
Thinking a portable is as good & fast as a TM.

For the last two months I only washed my van twice, due to the lack of time, too busy, and after 2 days was dirty again, pointless.
-
Spending £10,000 to £30,000 on vans and machinery and just £500 on marketing .

Just Working out how to make a poll out of points listed, if I just start a poll we can Only vote for one which we think is the worst, it will not let us list them in order of priority :-\
But I will give it a go, like I said I will on list the technical ones and keep the rest for another poll.
