Title: Ridges in carpet

Hi guys, I cleaned a carpet yesterday and the customer has rung to say the carpet has got ridges in it. It's fully dry but what could have caused this?. Cheers

Probably was overwetted a bit. In most of cases its coming back as it was, if not then carpet fitter will sort you out, just to restretched a bit.

Arrange to view it in 2 days time by then it should have rectified itself

Happens often, more with cheaper carpets with latex secondary backing which expands at a different rate to backing and pile when wet and from heat.

More often than not will settle down again when dry and even temperature again...... I would leave it at least a week before attempting to do anything with it......

Same as above. I had some this year that would have sunk a battleship, but they do go back.
If you see any rippling before cleaning. Point it out to the customer, and I say more that likely it will look worse after cleaning, but it will go back.

Thanks guys. I've said to the customer it should go back. Never had this before so when I went today it took me back a little. She's not happy to put it politely but explained and should be ok. If not will get a carpet fitter to put it right. There was no sign of it before we started and made sure it had grippers but hey ho live and learn  ;)

I had one a couple of months ago, that started rippling as I was pre spraying, advised the customer that it would be back to normal . also advised her to leave the patio doors open as there was a nice warm breeze coming straight in.
She phoned that night claiming the ripples were the size of a tsunami.
went back first thing the next day, and the same ripples were there, she confessed she didn't follow my advice. So I left an airmover with her,  went back in the evening and everything was back to normal, She was pleased so much so that she recommended me to her friend  who had the same carpet, she even warned her friend about the rippling and assured her that it would all go back,  Cleaned her friends carpet and guess what............. it didn't ripple.

bet you felt a like a raspberry ripple then
