Yeah, your battery is taking charge (hence it showing ok on the 'test') but isn't holding charge

I take it that it works for a while then later in the day starts flashing 'L'?

How olds the battery & whats its usage like?

I am having exactly same problem at the moment. Controller is a couple of years old, batty is 5 months old. All I can think is that the controller takes a small charge from the battery even when it is not in use so weakens the battery enough for the controller to not think it has enough charge.

I've had batteries go at around nine months before - particularly the 75ah ones.

I use these controllers and they take a charge from the battry constantly even when turned off. i now have crocadile clips on the wires that go to battry and just disconet one when im not using it.

Not the most indepth answer, so...

Have you tried another battery and what ah is your current battery?

Something draining battery fully charged yesterday half charged today any ideas

They are awesome controllers! Even when OFF they drain power.  I had to fit a switch to kill the power to the controller. I ripped it out and binned it in the end. Probably one of the worst controllers I have ever had the misfortune of using.

Battery sounds f***ed TBH.

How long does a leisure battery normally last obviously using it a lot but not had it a year yet

If it's cheap, small and your charger is basic and you charge it every night then not long.

I killed 3 leisure batteries in 18 months. All 75-95AH range.

I had a split charge relay wired up and I don't know if it was that or just poop batteries.

Current two are on the way to being two years ok.

115AH numax. Grippa split charge system.

Bench charged em 3 times in 2 years.

My electric reel pulls nearly 20 amps and my round is compact. So very happy with performance.

Take the battery to Euro car parts do a free battery test. You may have dead cells

At what voltage does your controller shut down to protect the battery ? , Have you been running your battery flat on a regular basis , resulting in knackering your battery .

A true test for your battery would be test it whilst you have the pump running to see if the voltage drops off , It happened with a car battery of mine years ago when battery was tested without engine running everything was ok but within 30 seconds of testing with engine running the voltage dropped off = knackered battery .

Tested battery with pump running dropped a little bit not much though I'll go to euro parts this week

Wouldn't bother. They will charge it up, take a reading of the voltage and tell you it's fine. The fact that it runs out of charge doesn't concern them. I've  never managed to get one replaced yet under warranty.

Thing is don't know if it's controller or battery

Battery. If it's fine at the beginning of the day then plays up later then it has to be the battery running down. The controller is telling you it's under voltage then will turn itself off eventually. You get home, charge the battery up and everything is fine again.
That's how batteries go - the more charging cycles they have - the faster they deteriorate. The colder the weather gets the worse they become. The cheaper the battery the quicker they wear out generally. Deep cycle leisure batteries are supposed to be better than a car battery for our needs but I've tried both with little difference. Get a quality charger too.

As has been said a few times now, think your batteries shot...

Just because the battery's taking charge, doesn't mean it'll hold charge ( in other words you can charge it up, but it'll decrease in power alot quicker than when it was new)
This is the way leisure batteries usually go...it'll keep taking charge for the next year or so, it just wont last very long

Have you tried another battery?

At 10 months the battery is probably the issue. As above over time they loose their ability to hold a charge. The battery will show as taking a charge and will even charge up as it always did. However during the discharge/Recharge cycle a layer of Crystalized sulphur builds up on the lead plates. This reduced the batteries ability to hold a charge. The effect is noticeable if you have a volt meter. A new battery will hold a voltage level EG 12V for 4  hours or so when under load (Pump on)  However an older worn battery would  likely see the voltage fall off in less than a hour. Usually the fall off is dramatic for Example more than 0.5V

In regard the Williamson Varistream taking a current when switched off I do not know how much current the processor will draw. It is likely to be relatively small.

We engineer the V11 to be as efficient as possible and when powered down the processor draws less than 100th of an amp an hour EG it would take 100 hours for the processor to draw 1 amp from the battery.
