I have a commercial customer who has a problem with fruit fly, they had a vending machine removed and whilst in the process a spill or leak, so I am told soaked the carpet ( l/p carpet tiles) and ever since has had the problem, they have tried the usual remedy's of fly spray which of course only kills the flying ones .
I have suggested for complete eradication the full cycle has to be eliminated and even possible further visits.
What would you consider the best approach? best product. I do have a ozone generator if this is of ant use.
Any advise appreciated.

Personally with cases like this I tend to leave the problem with the customer. Ie, it's their problem so don't take ownwership unless you know you can confidently cure it. And as it happens, you don't.
Last year I got called out to remove some carpet moth from a carpet. The letting agency sort of tried to transfer ownership of the problem to me. Like go and sort it out and remove them. As it turned out, the whole flat including sofa's cupboards, clothes etc were infested and the tenant had to move out while every thing had to be replaced.....thats just an extreme case though and I walked away when the tenant started telling me about the infestation.
What would you do if you treat the problem and they come back? Is this the point where you are the owner of the problem?

I have had a number of jobs involving carpet moths, all treated successfully
I am pretty confident of curing the problem with the correct approach, just after advise .

Geoff,
one of our services is pest control, these flys lay thousands of eggs and it is pretty impossible to eradicate without using Vicam or something similar which is a controlled product, find a good pest control technician in your area prefferably BPCA or NPTA, get the area treated two visits should sort approx £90, then clean the area.
Hope this helps

Tjanks Mike,
Yes I will be using Vicam, I have used it in the past re. carpet moths.
I quoted £150 with any further treatment at £60 per visit , I will be doing Sunday morning

Get them to check the vending machine as well. Had them where they were feeding on the sugar caddies in side the machine. Oh and don't drink the coffee.

Speak to Richard or Julie at Chemspec Europe....their 'Chemtreat Plus' will probably do the job
