Title: Advice
Post by: Jeff Pletnick on December 13, 2015, 12:12:31 pm
Hi. I'm really interested in getting involved in the cleaning industry. Could anybody steer me in the right direction. I can't make up my mind to  do jet washing or carpet cleaning. Comments for and against for both would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

I don't do carpet cleaning but I do know 2 excellent guys that do this, both make a reasonable living but both said it took a couple of years to get established and  bring in good regular income.

I pressure wash and this brings in good money, again if your starting from scratch then it may take time to build up, I had a window cleaning customer base of 1000 to help jump start the pressure washing side.

Either way don't underestimate how much time and effort and money advertising it's going to take before you start getting a steady return, also buy the best you can afford, cheap equipment will not do a job to the required standard or last, but by the same token don't go throwing money at stuff you just "want" only buy what's needed

Do you have experience of either service ?

What's your work background and are you doing this on a budget ?

I would go for carpets and hard floors as it clean warm and dry work.

No experience. But I had a successful business in South Africa. I have enough capital to do this. Thanks Jeff

Make a decision on two things and make sure they are compatible.  Then research the equipment and choose wisely.  Don't go too cheap and get the right advice from Experienced professionals first.  If you have had a successful business before then all this should be second nature.
