Hello and Merry Xmas
Has anyone used a Vikan easy shine kit to clean inside windows?
I've just taken on a job with loads of insides and if these work they would save loads of time.
could do with a bit more length on the pole though. The one I've seen is on ebay pole length is less than a metre.
Thanks in advance.

They don't do a great job Terry and are hard work compared to traditional methods you certainly wont be
quicker.
You will also need a load of extra pads if its a sizable job.
-
i dont rate it . i took over cleaning a solicitors office from a guy who used vikan easy shine , i used a squeegie and the windows were filthy it was like oil coming off the glass . i think it would be ok using it every other month . but you can't beat using a squeegie

I use one for awkward access windows. Not as good as a squeegee but acceptable. No good on dirty windows though.
-
I use one on a few inside jobs with awkward access and big panes and it's ok but as said only on clean ish glass. ..I have also used it on an inside of a plastic conny roof and it was quick with the vikan :)

whats the one like that Tadgh does

yes use them a lot, the first clean can be a nightmare but once you have a window upto standard they are great, depends on your solution you use with them, how wet you have them etc.. If the window is ground floor then we use microfibre cloths ( unless big shop fronts ) you can buy longer poles as standard 4 meter I think, or fit them to Gardiner poles

As Darran has stated they have their use but its very hard to get a smear free finish with them, I would only
use one if I had no other choice, the slightest bit of condensation in the room and your in trouble as you need to keep the pads dry.

Darran I cleaned something similar to that for about 4 years using a Dragonfly kit and an Xtel fiberglass pole, is it any
wonder my joints are wrecked. ;D

For cleaning interiors i would always recommend to use good quality microfiber glass cleaning cloths which will stick onto the the velcro strips on the alum mop frame, you will achieve much better results instead of using microfiber glass mop pads, even though we sell microfiber glass mop pads i really don't rate them for interiors, and good quality microfiber glass cloths are also more cost effective.
no guys it dose not have to be little waffle weave glass cloths, but you need to use higher quality than the standard blue or green microfiber glass cloths which is the same microfiber used to make microfiber glass mop pads.

Once I get the first clean done I think the insides will stay fairly clean.I was hoping this would be quicker and safer as I will need to use some small steps to reach the top row on the inside as they are just a bit too tall.
Really will just be polishing the glass as much as anything as it's office windows on a regular basis. Will the easy shine kit be practical on cleanish windows ?
Thanks

Hi Terry, if you want a quick and effective method for cleaning insides, we promote little waffle weave glass cloths which are far more effective in both cost and results over using microfiber glass mop pads, just use one damp with water to clean the glass and then a second one dry to polish off for a smear free finish which you will not achieve using microfiber glass mop pads, these little waffle cloths can also be used in combination with a telescopic handle and mop frame which is quicker and safer than working off a step ladder, if you would like any further information Terry under no obligation you can email info@jskcleaning.ie regards Tadgh

i have a job every 7 weeks i clean 3 church stile windows tops with vikan easy shine i get a good finish but the first clean was far from perfect there ok on reguler inside jobs lots of water i use just tap water with a bit of ipa in a sprayer

Just to share for any guys who clean a lot of interiors, using our above method for cleaning insides with a damp and a dry little waffle cloth is also far more effective than using any type of trad tools when it comes to achieving a finish free of SSR's (Streaks,Smears,Residues,) We have been told the same by so many clients who use them that i am totally confident in standing over this.
Yes i know my above statement will make so many guys blood boil at even the thought of this being true, but i will stand over it all day long. Happy cleaning Tadgh.

Wouldn't it be quicker with a BIG waffle cloth?

Yes Dave again you are on the ball, our normal size waffle cloths are 38x45x340gsm, we now also carry 46x61x370gsm for doing larger windows and to be quicker. Happy waffing Tadgh :)

I have no problem backing up Tadgh here - this method beats the squeegee hands down

Hi Darran, thanks for the back up, but in our line of work we supply many hotels and one of the biggest problems the housekeepers have is getting a smear free finish on their interior glass and mirrors, these problems are caused from the continuous use of traditional type glass and mirror cleaners which just leave greasy residues build up on the surfaces, when we tell them the reasons why they should just bin the glass and mirror cleaner, and then show them by just using a little waffle cloth damp with water to clean their glass and mirrors and then just use a second little waffle cloth dry to polish off and achieve a smear free finish they actually get very excited by the results that are achieved, Its actually our clients in hotels who came up with the waffing phrase as when placing their orders for cleaning solutions they ask for the waffing cloths, of course we know what they really mean, only problem is they last for a bloody longtime. Great spot Dave !!
Yes on bigger sites we keep in touch via radio and in this case we also used them to make sure the pads had cleaned the glass without any smears
