Title: leafletting (again)!
Post by: tim handley on December 08, 2015, 04:22:00 pm
off work this afto due to a cancellation, while bringing bins in i espied a chap dropping fliers, i watched him go to every house, quite methodical, not mising any out looking like a man on a mission......   so i gets chatting to him, tells him my scenario with the cc ing.
He does the whole of Grantham in a six monthly cycle, so i can cover the whole town twice a year. He works for himself and seem very genuine and switched on.   His price is £25 per   1000.    Is this a decent price???  Its a form of marketing i have not yet gotten into, im doing very well from ccn and addwords,  but want more, much more, now want to switch on a leaflet campaign as well........

How many will he put out with yours? If it's another 4 then don't bother ( if he does he earns  £160 a day for walking the streets.....not a bad income ;) )

If it's with one more go for it

3 would be the maximum I would accept. Don't let him tuck yours inside another folded leaflet ,  it needs to fall through the letterbox separately.

all depends on how close propertys are some in our area have 100ft drives this would take much longer to do

I reckon on roughly 120 per hour with a mix of houses....none with 100 foot drives though.

I insisted my 1st wife and step son leafleted with me for 6 months every minute we had free  - ITS SOUL DESTROYING & NOT AN EFFECTIVE WAY TO RUN a business IMHO- she had an affair and got my house and all my stuff - except the van and carpet cleaning stuff ! ;-)

Leafleting works but not doing it yourself unless you want to earn peanuts AND JUST PLAY AT IT AND THEN SAY LEAFLETS DON'T WORK - like everything in business and life its all about how you do it

Find a reliable source and do big numbers , charge High Prices and - YOU MAKE A PROFIT - unless you do the leaflet wrong, cant monitor the effectiveness of the delivery , charge the wrong prices etc etc etc

 ;D

Leafletting for thing like cc isn't a way forward if you do it yourself. If you pay others then yes but if you were doing the leafletting and cleaning in your own you would probaby spend more time leafletting as you would struggle to get the quantities out

About 100 an hour I've found with a mix of properties but it's hard work for 2 hours never mind doing it 8 hours a day..

I only do it for window cleaning as the return is better and once I have enough cuties I don't need to do it anymore as it's repeat work.

Tim

Like any marketing. you should decide on tests and results. Return on investment is the tool you should be using.

Testing gets really interesting with things like the headline, copy, type of paper, etc, etc. there are many things that affect results that why testing is so important. having bench marks that you can build on and use.

Risk is another issue what if this guy get ill and it is working well for you? you get a drop in business. what if he starts to drop loads of leaflets?

I have a guy in my area that uses pink flyers and was using the post office, he decided to save money and use a company to drop them. they folded it up. the idea of A3 is that if it gets droped with other flyers it so big that the other flyers go inside it. I bet that he had a drop in response.
