Title: figure 8 metal thing in spinner jets

One of the jets blocked on my floor spinner, and when I removed the jet there was a figure 8 metal thing in there, what is its purpose, cos I removed it and now I get more water through. but it must have a reason for being there

Bung this on the general cleaning section loads of professionals on there and Ben who builds them
