Title: Working from flat roof, H&S
Post by: Perfect Windows on November 25, 2015, 10:00:52 pm
If you're working on a commercial job that involves access from a flat roof, what are you looking for from the customer?  Obviously you can ask for a letter stating that it's safe to work from but is there a more formal document than that?

Some don't even ask for rams but just make sure the flat roof is safe to walk on and whoever is doing the job they don't go falling off the edge or fall stepping onto/off the roof. To cover yourself on the event of any mishap you should always do a rams anyway.

I don't believe a letter stating its safe to work from would be worth the paper its written on. I say that because its you who needs to do the RAMs assuming its you who is contracted to do the work. Aside from investigating the soundness of the flat roof there is access to it to consider and also the actual fact of working on it, i.e fall arrest systems.
